Yes - the old city is beautiful. I would also definitely hit both St Denis and Crescent Street. Good (extremely indie) gig list can be found on Stillepost http://stillepost.ca/boards/index.php?board=6.0 There is usually some kind of festival going on from Pop Montreal, to the comedy and jazz fests. Never camped there unfortunately.
