Son the Father does rock.

wow. Never expected this to be as good as it actually is.
-
Yeah - but same story with the last one. Real grower. Trouble is giving it the time to grow.

update? NP - all Deer Tick all the time. Had War Elephant for a couple years and it never really clicked. Does now - especially the song Easy. and then there is this: Deer Tick with large retro breasts: (maybe work safe if you were employed by Playboy in 1965)

Oh man Bruce Peninsula is just not my thing. Too earnest. Loving this. You played suffer to the swine with his chalices of wine and his niece that wears your penis Like a crown

To be honest I don't know. I love them, seen them a number of times, but totally ODed on Alligator and Boxster a couple years ago. Alligator and the 1st S/T cd remain my favourites. -

Excellent band - probably the best indie out there at the moment. There is a lot of both Nick Cave and Tindersticks in the sound and they have have 2 sets of Twins (or a least brothers) backing up Matt Berringer. It makes for a rhythm section that is extremely tight and very unconventional. Youtubes of 'So Far around the bend' on Jimmy Fallon and the song 'Daughter of the Sojo Riots' will blow you away. -

Yeah - they really do don't they? If it's not Pirates, it's Prog rock, which further turned me away. But I understand that people do love them. -

Trying for some off beat suggestions: Sparklehorse -----> 13ghosts from Mississippi (or alabama - I forget). Love this band and is a fantastic album. In fact I'm loving everything on Fat Possum records - especially 13ghosts and Vulture Whale. for Lampchop ----> The Heroes are Horses. Another southern band and old board member Gato's brother is the main guy. Gato's brother was actually in one of the Lampchop incarnations at some point. Their last album Red Baton is incredible. M Ward - That's kinda tough. I have to think back to like Leon Redbone or Richard Thompson, but Ward -
Alright! Her best song is included on the new one and becomes the album name. My daughter is at the Grad Club tomorrow for the show and she has promised to do the 'Hold Up the Cellphone' thing. http://www.exclaim.c...=844&fid1=41174 Basia Bulat Signs to Secret City Records, Announces Sophomore Album 9/16/2009 By Brock Thiessen Following her much-loved 2007 album Oh, My Darling, Toronto-bred indie darling Basia Bulat is all ready for album two. Thanks you smarmy condescending, but nice, bitch!

Yeah I know. Totally psyched for this. I'm thinking this is gonna be a Gob Iron like traditional interpretation, which would be pretty cool. What they really need to do is invite Frank Turner to help, record a couple more songs in Dublin, and this becomes a Bizzaro world Mermaid Ave.

As you say, I guess Greg Graffin must have passed on the whole thing. But it looks like Jay Farrar, Jim James, Anders Parker and Will Johnson didn't. Think this is from a Will John/centro mail list, but don't have a link: 'Will Johnson is the Swiss Army knife of indie rock. During rare downtime between his bands Centro-matic and South San Gabriel, the prolific local songwriter is taking a backseat to the Monsters of Folk Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis, M. Ward, and Jim James of My Morning Jacket on a national and European tour, following the release of the quartet's epon

It is so strange hearing Dr Robert, I'm Only Sleeping and And My bird Can Sing on this. Guess I'm just used to my old long ago destroyed LP. Tomorrow never knows = 1st trance song and my favourite of all.

Becoming obsessed with this: Ever since my childhood I've been scared I've been afraid Of being trapped by circumstance and staying in one place So I always keep a small bag full of clothes carefully stored Somewhere secret somewhere safe And somewhere close to the door Well I've traveled many countries I've washed my feet in many seas I've drunk with drifters in Vienna and with punks in old dc And I've driven across deserts driven by the irony That only being shackled to the the road could ever I be free

Ahh, my parents still live up by Donalda. Think the most electrifying thing I heard on there was the night of Lennon's death. Marsden could not keep it together and basically bled out on air, playing this, that and everything that reminded him of Lennon.

Two Cow Garage - Speaking in Cursive looks like they are giving away the milk for free right now http://www.suburbanhomerecords.com/2009/09/08/suburban-home-turns-14-wants-to-give-it-to-you/

oh yeah! Matthew Goode encapsulates all that is terrible about 90s cancon. Too bad. That station used to be amazing ---- circa 1980. It took a lot to get past Dave Marsden’s ego, but this station was responsible for me liking music, period. On top of that they were still broadcasting from Brampton on a weakass signal that made reception in Don Mills problematic. When it camethrough, it was like this double super secret collection of music thatnobody else was playing and only weekly trips to the Record Peddlerhelp assuage. The Spirit of Radio.

Loving this after hearing his previous stuff and thinking Billy Bragg clone.
