  1. wow. That sounds great. Totally agree that Lawr and Maki should be bigger than they are. Oh - and don't forget us little people as you snort the cocaine off the groupie's chest in the coming years. Okay?
  2. You're right. I'm wrong. This fucking great. Love Givin Up and Getting Fat, Dissappearing, Dilettantes, and Wankers. He certainly has a way with song names.
  3. I'm jealous. How much did something that cost?
  4. Y - those updated advertisements sound very cool. Wonder if Steve would like this? Maybe I have to send him a note that says 'Lebanon Tennessee' is one of the best songs ever written.
  5. Kalle - if you can - get to know Andy Magoffin. He produced the Constantines, Royal City, Rock Plaza Central, Nathan Lawr, Great Lakes Swimmers, Rizdales, ... in short almost every good Canadian act in the last decade. His recording studio is here in London, by the Labatt's Brewery, and I have never ever seen one place with so much vintage musical equipment. I actually like seeing him solo, cause it makes him into this strange one man band with like 12 pedals, 3 mics, and all kinds of strange instruments and amps. http://www.exclaim.ca/musicschool/whereiplay.aspx?csid1=65 http://www.
  6. It's a very very cool place. We always used to go to the Silver Rail across the street (not to be confused with a the Brass Rail strip joint farther on up Yonge). That was supposedly one of the places Parker went, either in search of drugs or a plastic sax. It was this deco bar with worn leather black couches and oval mirrors with bartenders in uniform. It was actually the first non-hotel liquor serving place in Ontario. Massey Hall acoustics are perfect and there no bad sightlines anywhere It's also great for a stage rush. You can run from the back to the front really quickly. Not that
  7. Cool. I'm not too too sure just yet. It seems like more a Tim solo album that the all out balls rock of Convicts.
  8. Echo songwriting prize sort of matches the Polaris. http://www.echoprize.ca/echoen/index.jsp Great bunch of songs: Veda Hille, Weakerthans, Wintersleep, Sandro Perri.... no idea which to vote for.
  9. Great Y! I would encourage you to light the Kidsmoke fire and get your asses to the Hollywood show. Avatar is from Kelly Mark: Last week, all around town these billboards kept showing up with typical band pictures. The same five indie dudes against a brick wall or on a staircase feigning indifference and boredom. No explanation was given. I first through it was a clothing company ad where a logo would appear in a week or so. . But no. This was an installation called 'The Band' by Kelly Mark. http://www.lolafest.com/artists/mark.html No band actually exists, just the promotion.
  10. Meaghan Smith, a local girl on Sire records. I really like her, knew the family somewhat in the 90s, when she was like 5, and am excited about her career. http://www.myspace.com/meaghansmithmusic Can't wait til the London show at Aeolian Hall (the best concert hall in existence) on Oct 22nd. Anyway, tour info. I hear Sexsmith is good too (/sarcasm): 24 Sep 2008 20:00 The Five Spot Atlanta, Georgia 25 Sep 2008 20:00 20th Century Theatre Cincinnati, Ohio 27 Sep 2008 20:00 Schubas Tavern Chicago, Illinois 28 Sep 2008 20:00
