  1. Pulling out all the YAI stuff until the new one arrives I've been doing all those things which I never did at all And you sure would laugh if you hear the crap I talk But I never saw it coming I just couldn't see that morning rain That soiled all that clothes that I left hanging out again
  2. Same boat - Waiting for a copy to arrive. I think we are SOL on Itunes and such. From what I understand, it is only available (legally) from Itunes Australia. so I wait and wait....
  3. workin' their copper claims, risking their lives
  4. 13ghosts - Don't You Forget about Me 'Judd Nelson on the football field - that was the image of a generation' and 'No man, you're getting the Simply Red guy mixed up with the Simple Minds guy'
  5. I bought their latest cd earlier this year and like it alot - especially Jesus of the South. My first impression was that they were a Mississippi version of the Constantines. That cover of Can't Hardly Wait is really good.
  6. Colour Revolt - Daytrotter Sessions - Jesus of the South has to be one of the best songs of the year. getting that Justin Townes Earle stuff next so thanks for the reminder above.
  7. Time to call in some favours. Hint (PM needed) Hint.
  8. GS is way more popular over there, so as a simple answer, that's one of the reasons. Germans really like the South West would be another simple-minded reason. Touring costs in relation to the number of people who see the concerts would be another. Think North Americans bands generally love Europe and look favourably on a Hamburg-Koln-Baden-Baden jaunt instead of a Lethbridge-Missoula-Salt Lake City van-that-smells-like-dude trip.
  9. weird - it's a new version of 'North Dakota' with an 'additional ending written by Germans' I love this band. Leaving this town Heading southbound A car full of narcotics Some cheap cocaine and weed We cut our losses in North Dakota Were it's true they named all their streets after thieves
  10. B- you probably already know - but there's a new song up on Myspace. Think its a bside from the Helen Betty Osborne 7 inch. and didn't notice this before: wooden sky tour date: 18 Oct 2008 20:00 Call the Office w/Mother Mother London, Ontario Don't really like Mother Mother all that much so this will be a go see the opener and then go to bed kinda night. I'll tell them that they have a fan in CO so perhaps their touring van will make a trek that is outside the Brampton-Oshawa circuit. Popp
  11. Went and dredged up the previous cd for a friend. It's available here all free and legal like: http://chrwradio.com/lma/2004/The%20Rizdal...ge/rizdales.htm and Basia's first ep is up there too: http://chrwradio.com/lma/2004/Basia%20Bula...Bulat/basia.htm on to: http://www.angeladesveaux.com/sure-enough.mp3
  12. It is called 'The Strangest Colored Lights'. Been out since April on Skybucket records out of Birmingham AL. I know that one time board member Leah wrote about Alabama's Duquette Johnson and he shows up on the thing too.
  13. Yeah maybe, but this kicks my ass, and pretty much defines what I want in a Southern Man-Rock, that is , if I wanted it 'round anyhow:
  14. Now Playing Fail! Love it to bits. 2 songswriters, one beatleesque, the other sort of like the lead singer of OX. I'm gonna go get their earlier cd now, think it is called Cicada or something. Good description from wireless bolinger: http://www.wirelessbollinger.com/content/view/1366/81/ and of course the Myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/13ghostsband
  15. I'm not to into the southern new-boogie bands, but hollee shit is this good. In my books it blows away Glossary, Lucero etc. Vid with a completely different mix of the song from the record: on the cd, it's a ballad.
  16. 2 new Broken Family Band songs up on Myspace. http://www.myspace.com/thebrokenfamilyband These guys not getting nominated for the Mercury Prize is a crock.
  17. This appeared in my Podunck town on an unused Billboard. wow. These anywhere else?
  18. I got the same reaction from some other people. They listed a couple other books for getting into Mormon alternative history. Still, I enjoyed Karkauer's , and it offered as much knowledge as I ever ever ever ever will need about Polygamy, Mountain Meadows, Joseph Smith and Brigham Young.
