wow, they made the cover of Exclaim this month. Great article that also explains the Lethbridge connection Elliott Brood Building a History By Vish Khanna On September 11, 1857, approximately 120 men, women, and children emigrating from Arkansas to California were slaughtered by an unlikely collective of Mormon militia members and local Native American tribesmen in a part of the Utah territory known as Mountain Meadows. A complex amalgam of political conflict and religious fervency set off the Mormon-led siege upon the Baker-Fancher emigrant party, who were forced into a standoff af

Me too. In fact I can't stop listening. Read a comment that they deliver the promise once held by Marah, which I kinda agree with. The other comment I agree with is that they sound like a Satan worshipping 16 Horsepower.

same as Mart - REM on the Murmurs tour in 83 (?) really small club called Larry's Hideaway that no longer exists. Didn't really know who the band was. Saw them again on the Reckoning tour up at Canada's Wonderland (Stipe had long hair) and then in 85 (Stipe had short hair). Met the band for extended periods both of the '84 and '85 times. U2 - October tour. It was friggin crowded. I was next to CNN's John 'JD' Roberts as he interviewed the band. Think this was at the El Mo, but I might be wrong. JD also had long hair. all the others are too early for me. -

oh fucking hell this is one great cd. Instead of the old drawings of the Ambassador bridge from their last album, they included a fake piano roll for Mountain Meadows. Unbelievable and it is now easily the best thing I've heard this year. Supposedly the whole thing is some concept album about Mormons massacring a wagon train in the 1870s: http://www.nowtoronto.com/music/story.cfm?content=163587

Loved the Acorn's message on the Elliott Brood Myspace page. I gotta go to the Hillside fest in Guelph this year. Those 2 bands mixing it up in 'Sexy Time' will be fantastic.

Jimmy, they are a fantastic dark, dark folk band who have seemed to have found feedback on the latest cd. Kinda like if 16 Horsepower were Satanists. They were simply awesome live this past weekend.

I guess you'd call us contras But no one calls us much no more There ain't no fun in killing folk And I don't want to do no more Did Reagan give the order Did cocaine pay the bill They said we're killing Communists But it was awfully hard to tell.

Yeah, I certainly have not heard them all especially things like Silver Mt Zion or french language discs.A couple years ago I ended up loving the Malajupe record, only hearing about it from the nonimations, so I'll at least do a myspace on them all. Skipping City and Colour though. I could happily never hear them again.

second thought, there is no Andre Ethier or Rizdales, so it is indeed the worst. list. ever.
