That is certainly what the sound of a harpsichord means to me - Debutantes and Cotillions. Agreeance on the second half being much more like able. Think I'll just end up skipping 2 songs.

For many years now readers have been encouraging me to put out a music CD that would accompany my books. With this new novel, I felt the time had come. Throughout the turbulent 60s, people listened to these songs in their cars and bedrooms, danced to them at clubs, or slow-dragged to them at house parties bathed in blue light. This was the best of deep soul, describing the joy and pain of love, played and sung with mind-blowing passion, coming through the radio as the fury was building on the street. Here, then, is the soundtrack to Hard Revolution." -- George Pelecanos, 2003 1. Don't Figh

and that's followed by the Sparks like synth song. this is not looking good. Is this what happens when keyboard players are given too much power in the decision making?

Harpsichord? Harpsichord? I can understand the need to change things around a bit, but wtf?

I'm was hoping that the DVD would make up for a lackluster ep. damn.

Watched 'Lars and the Real Girl' and there was Deadly Snakes front man Max Danger playing the office buddy; the friend who introduces Lars to silicon dolls. Neato, and he did a pretty good job. Guess this means no solo records from that side of the Deadly Snakes house. Turns out that Max also had a part in 'The Tracey Fragments' so I guess I will have to rent that now. Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Bought the concert T with that very image on it and it's become my fav. It is so stupid/clever if you know what I mean. NP - Van Morrison - Astral Weeks - Some muddy late eighties cd version that does not sound as good as it should. Although the drums and other percussion instruments are not bad. I should search out a remaster or an SACD or something.

Thanks Kalle. Yeah a trip to the island to see Stars and DCDF would not be one of my 'must sees'. Still not sure about going. I'm also not a huge fan of big shows anymore. Much rather see someone not as famous with less that half the people. I think that's why I like the lawn. Not as claustrophobic.

I may be there at the Molson Amp. Probably on the lawn. Leonard Cohen has a Friday and Saturday night show at the Sony Centre. If ever there were a place for Buckmillsstipe to show up at on a day off, it's that. Also the Olympic Island festival is on that weekend. I'm not a huge fan of DCDF, but they will be there. Plus some loud ambient band that I know nothing about is at Lee's. Should be a good weekend to make it to 2 of the 4.

Son Volt - Remember that time Trace was better than AM and we all thought you were the future? Then Wilco kicked your ass for the next decade? You must really hate that.

so they've previewed 3 new songs on Myspace and each has been a huge winner. It is going to be soooo hard to choose a best cd of the year with stuff like this still to come.

You're the shit and I'm knee deep in it You're the shit and I'm knee deep in it Don't think I've been this interested in a Scottish band since Teenage Fanclub. cool.

Go grab your top 10 or 15 artists and say something negative about them: 1. The Broken Family Band Enough with the sarcasm. We get it 2. You Am I Three words: Haircuts all around. 3. Deadly Snakes So you broke up. How special. Get over whatever the personal issues were and re-form. 4. Reigning Sound Umm, a forth record would be nice. 5. New Pornographers So one of you sounds like Burt Bacharach, the other like Bowie, and the other like Patsy Cline. How can you agree on anything? 6. Magnolia Electric Company One good album, one Molina solo dirge, another g

Matt - that is Frightened Rabbit. From Scotland. Good Lyrics with an acoustic mayhem sound. Add to the mix some UK type synth keyboards, but not enough to ruin the music and Voila - a good 'new to me' band.

Alejandro Escovedo, while wonderfully talented, has also been extremely boring since he left Rank and File. -
Do the twist and the twisting I fear The loose tie with the lose limbed wrists Lift your dress enough to show me those shins Let your hair stick to your forehead Did you blush then when our hips touched I can't tell, your already red I'm a ripe, give me the signs Is that pink mist or lip dry ice? Twist and whisper the wrong name I don't care, nor do my ears Twist yourself around me I need company I need human heat. I love this cd.
