  3. You guys never got the Replacements either, so there is some strange Minnesota thing that probably will prevent THS from jumping the Atlantic. Course it was also a Brit who yelled out 'Judas' in 1965.
  4. I certainly don't mind Blondie, but yeah, Hynde is a class-of-her-own songwriter. I had girlfriends that actually cried when she married Jim 'Simple Minds' Kerr. I didn't cry, but I thought it would be the end of the Pretenders, and I guess between it and all the drug deaths, it sorta was. Endless tracks off each of this thread's albums would make an excellent 80's radio station
  5. Stealing ideas from almost all of the above posts. Kate Bush, The Dreaming Specials

  8. This may appear hokey, but having a Steve Reich ringtone would be pretty unique. There would be absolutely no mistaking a call on your phone. Unfortunately it only appears to be available in the UK:
  9. TJ 1) have Mp3s of the CD on your computer 2) Go to Http://yousendit.com 3) register 4) on the upload page, fill out the instructions - usually putting your own email address in the TO: box. This also includes finding the MP3 on your hardrive using the 'Browse' function. 5) Wait till the file uploads 6) Copy and paste the YSI link back into a post on this message board.
  10. I really tried with the Klezmatics. I love Klezmer music and listened to the samples of the guthrie stuff, but it just didn't do it for me. Did I miss something? Is there a standout track on the CD that you would be able to post as a YSI perhaps?
  11. I love it when the limeys take over the now listening thread! And thanks for all the Brakes info. I too cannot wait for the new CD! me: Trucker's Memorial and the song 'Brandon' http://www.truckersmemorial.com/media/Truc...ial_Brandon.mp3
  12. I love this song: There was a stage and a P.A. up in western Massachussetts, and the kids came from miles around to get messed up on the music. And she drove down from Bowdoin with a carload of girlfriends to meet some boys and maybe eat some mushrooms. And they did, and she got sick; now she
  13. Very sorry to hear this news. Best wishes to the family.
  14. Oh shit, this is a major label release on Lost Highway and it looks like it got all kinds of ARIA award nominations and a big push from universal. It's like one of your personal best kept musical secrets going all James Blunt. damn, if all this publicity works, no chance of seeing this guy in small clubs anymore.
  15. Someone was saying that parts of it (with I guess all kinds of other stuff) ended up on DJ Shadow's Entroducing neeto. me didn't like Action Pact or PrettyTogether much, but this new one is 'non-sucky' Sloan.
