I have to admit ... that was pretty funny.

what's that?

The most recent Dolorean album is fantastic, in my opinion.
-
No problem. That album is kind of awesome, in my opinion.new to me. Thanks Mr semi-regular Oatmealblizzard
In that respect, I'm as regular as a white dress on a wedding day, baby.If there's truly a blizzard of oatmeal involved, you'd think he'd be more regular....even better on the way out.

I quite like "Two" and "Everybody Knows" so far. "Halloween Head" I could see being better in the context of the whole album. I do, though, like the part where he shouts "guitar solo!", followed appropriately enough by a solo. I laughed at that.
-
Yo, echo....nice avatar. That album is really, really great.

If anyone's interested, you can hear the studio version of "Everybody Knows" (as well as the other 2 leaked tunes) on my little blog. I think this one is new to the internet at the moment. It sounds pretty nice, but is unlikely to blow any minds.

Here is a half-classical blog I maintain with lots of mp3s of favorite recordings: http://www.goodvibrato.org
Great site.
And nice thread. I am a fan of Gould's Goldberg Variations and Reich's Music for 18 Musicians as well. And the Gavin Bryars piece "The Sinking of the Titanic" is one of my favorite pieces of music, well, ever probably. I hadn't listened to it in a while, but this thread as lead me to spin it a few times tonight. So wonderful.
Lots of interesting sounding things mentioned so far. Classical music is sooo vast and, often, unfamiliar that it can really be intimidating at times. But this thread has some nice suggestions I'll be investigating further for sure.

Fucking Spurs. The Suns really got the shaft in this series.
I could honestly care less about watching pretty much any team that's left in this thing. Oh well.

Oh my. That picture lead me down the road of internet sleuthing, whereupon a discovered she is but 18 and still in high school. Yikes....

It might be worth pointing out that Stern's marketing techniques, specifically exploiting Michael Jordan's fame overseas, have significantly improved the overall level of competition, imo.
This is very true and one of the main reasons I posted this earlier:
Over the long haul, Stern has been a really excellent commissioner and done a lot of good for the league.I just think his decision making recently has been something nearing atrocious. Suns-Spurs just tipped off, so I'm out.
-
Bill Simmons tells it like it is. I agree almost 100%, though I will be watching tonight's game in the hopes the Suns still kick the shit out of the Spurs.
Now here's where the NBA failed: For a league that professes to be concerned about dirty play and any situation that could lead to a brawl, the league has curiously looked the other way with the single dirtiest player in the league. If he pulled this crap on a pickup court, or even in college intramurals, somebody would have punched Bowen in the face and broken his jaw. In the NBA? He gets to keep doing his thing and putting other players in danger. In the Phoenix series alone, he tripped Stoudemire from behind on a dunk in Game 2, kneed Nash in the groin in Game 3 and tried to knock Nash off balance in Game 5 as they were running back upcourt (causing a frustrated Nash to elbow him in the chops). The league penalizes two Phoenix stars for instinctively running towards an injured teammate, but they don't penalize a perpetually dirty player who's eventually going to trigger an ugly brawl before the end of his career? How the hell does that make sense?

Over the long haul, Stern has been a really excellent commissioner and done a lot of good for the league. I'm just not sure what he is thinking lately. Here's a pretty good article.

have you guys actully taken the time to listen to his music? THERE IS A REASON THEY WERE SUCKED IN!
Get off your high horses and listen, listen to the words, listen to the melody and try to tell me he isnt an amazing songwriter. If examples need be given by all means i will
I have listened to him a LOT over the years. As I mentioned, I like quite a few of his songs. Just didn't really feel the need to see him perform live last night, that's all.

Oatmealblizzard..Didn't you say you and your wife would be there as well? Where were you sitting? I was first row balcony..
Ugggh. No, what I said was I tried to get tickets. But they called me with tickets for Wednesday. Never was able to get Tuesday tickets. Glad it was fun, though.
Oh ... and I am not married. Totally single. Hear that, ladies? Single...

After a quick search, it has been found. Now I am really pissed about this. If Amare is being penalized for this, so should Duncan. Fair is fair. Rules are rules.
EDIT: The league has apparently already addressed this, too (a little over halfway through this article). The Suns are really getting the shaft in this series. I hope they win by 30 without Stoudemire. Then by 40 when he returns.
-
Yes ... I can understand that, and I am sure that's why the league suspended them. But, it is still ridiculous. Everyone on the floor is grabbing and shoving. But Stoudemire and Diaw walk off the bench, DON'T EVEN DO ANYTHING, and walk immediately back. And they are suspended.
I think it is just stupid that the league is penalizing these guys for giving a damn, feeling some connection to their teammates, and showing some emotion in the moment when their best player is leveled (after having been consistently and intentionally punished for the whole series so far). It is lucky for the Spurs that pretty much no one who gives a shit was on the bench at that point, or they'd probably be out, too.
And yeah, I would like to see this video clip of Duncan and Parker leaving the bench. And maybe email it to Stern. Damnit. I am starting to really dislike the Spurs.
-
Yeah, I passed on seeing him tonight for that very reason, Beltmann. Maybe I should have gone as I do like a few of his songs, but more so when they are sung by someone else.
-
YHF was "electronica"? Huh.
I'm glad Leslie Gray Streeter liked it and all, but the "You Are My Face" summoning the Eagles thing seems a bit off base to me, too.

Thanks, but I think this was posted before. Cheers, though.
