New Neil Young album - with Crazy Horse!
Coltrane replied to Vacant Horizon's topic in Someone Else's Song
This isn't the best thing he's ever done with the Horse or anything, but it's fun. Nothing against Pegi, but I really wish the Horse had done all the background vocals. -
Is there any difference between the Uncle Tupelo LP's released in stores today and the ones for sale in the kung fu shop online?

What does your upcoming concert schedule look like?

Is anybody going to see the War on Drugs? They played an hour and a half away from me in Charlottesville on Thursday night and I couldn't make it. Just saw an AWESOME shirt they're selling at the shows and was trying to get ahold of one since they don't seem to have merch for sale online. For me... Black Keys 3/23 @ ODU DBT 4/17 @ The Jefferson, CVILLE Feist 5/9 @ Strathmore, Bethesda, MD Radiohead 6/3 @ Verizon DC DMB 6/17 @ Va Beach Amp(I know I know. I'm one of the only ones that still enjoys this band live) Going to try to see the Avetts and Phish as well. -
Got a front row center ticket to the show in Charlottesville at the Paramount
-
Hard to say, but I think it's safe to say that the tickets will sell out in order from cheapest to most expensive. The "cheapest" tickets are in the upper balcony and that was the only thing in the presale that sold out. The next price level is twice that and the only good seats available in the presale in that area IMO were in the lower balcony. I got a bit and bought those because I didn't want to get in a situation where I had to pay over $200 per ticket to get into the show, even if that meant being very close. I doubt it will sell out right away, but I'd be surprised if anything
-
When I put in best available it came up with something similar in location and price, I then switched the location to the balcony for the..err.."cheaper" tickets.
-
Got tickets in the front row of the balcony for the Neil solo show in RVA at the Landmark through an American Express presale. I'm not sure I've paid this much for a show before through "traditional outlets", but I just couldn't resist the chance to see him 10 minutes from my house AND solo. Haven't seen him since the Greendale tour.

New Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit album due April 12
Coltrane replied to cryptique's topic in Someone Else's Song
I think it's unlikely that last nights guest spot with the Truckers means anything other than Jason playing with some old friends who are in town. That really doesn't make it any easier not imagine him being in DBT again though I love the truckers just as much post Jason, but they were absolutely unhinged live when he was in the band. Can't help wanting to see that version of the band again. -
Has anyone heard the b-side version of "The Outsiders" with Michael reciting the Q Tip part from the album version? Having some trouble finding it and was looking for some thoughts before I bought the Wanderlust cd single it's on.

Jeff Tweedy at the Paramount Theater, Charlottesville VA, 8 Dec 2010
Coltrane replied to yohansen5b's topic in After The Show
The whole show was great, but I can't describe how amazing the cover of "God" was. Sincerely one of my all time highlights seeing anyone play anything live. -
I think that will happen when he gets around to releasing new music, but it ain't happening on III/IV. Assuming Blackhole comes out sometime next year, that will be 3 rock based records released in a row (Orion, III/IV, Blackhole). I think he might return to roots sounds in new recordings, but who knows. I love III/IV, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't like stuff from the RockNRoll/Love is Hell period. If you don't like either of those, you're prob gonna hate this.

Fair enough

The only records of his that most everyone seems to like are Heartbreaker, Cold Roses, & JCN. I wasn't really expecting III/IV to sound like any of those - and I love it. To me the whole DRA run Paxam is very exciting because it probably means that a lot of unreleased material will be released. However, the idea of Ryan running a record label is a bit Bubba/Gump Shrimp Company so far fwiw. He's very unhappy about the record leaking, but if you go to the paxam website it isn't available in any format. I'm lucky I was able to pre-order the vinyl I guess.

This has been suggested many times, but never proven.
-
This, but I love it! It should be noted that I am a DRA apologist who loves the entire 29 record and Magick, though.

I was at the show in Richmond this past Tuesday and the Age of Adz material was just amazing. I loved the ep, but I did not really like the full length that much before the show. Just didn't get it. I was really not prepared for that show to be as good as it was. Just wow. After the show I was commenting to the friend that I went with that the record was almost like demos for what they played at the show.

1. I love all 3 of these bands, but it's Wilco hands down. Jeff's songs end up meaning more to me personally than Radiohead's and even those who don't like the post Jay material have to concede that it absolutely blows REM's post Berry output out of the f'ing water! 2. Slight edge to Radiohead over Wilco. I'll buy REM's the day it comes out, but they just aren't in the same league in recent history. 3. I'll give it a shot, but no. I liked Up & Accelerate around the time they came out, but Reveal and Around The Sun are absolute autopilot. I did think it helped them the Accelerate was

Anyone know if Sin Eaters, Walk Off, and You Were A Kindness are the only non-album/High Violet era tracks that are around right now?
-
I can't post a link from where I am right now, but there is a video of this on Stereogum.
-
Didn't due much for me on initial listens and was pretty much shelved. Re-listened recently after seeing them on a SNL rerun from earlier in the year and was kind of blown away. Great record
-
Whoops. That's right. He did produce those Pearl Jam records though. Actually, most everything else he's done is pretty horrible. I don't mind the production on some of the STP stuff.
-
The records O'brien produced for Pearl Jam (Vs, Vitalogy, No Code, Yield) and The Black Crowes (Southern Harmony) in the 90's still sound pretty damn good to me. I'm not sure what happened to this guy, but his recent work with Bruce is horrible. Jack Irons is pretty freaking awesome, but he should not sound this much better than Max Weinberg.
-
This is a long shot, but does anyone have a whatcd invite?
-
Does anyone who already pre-ordered know if the the two songs you get after pre-ordering are available in lossless formats or are they just mp3's?
-
Go to pearljam.com, go to tour, and all the setlists are on the left of the screen going back to the early nineties. After the shows end the setlist is usually up within 24 hours. You can judge for yourself but I think they have really mixed it up on this tour.
