You should probably write that priest dude a strongly-worded letter outlining your concerns. Be sure to refer to the foundation of his religion as "Sky God" or whatever other condescending term you can come up with. That will ensure that he takes your arguments seriously. edit, this is not to gogo, obviously, despite my inclusion of "condescending."

I still don't see why the school should be expected to stock Harry Potter books at its library. I would prefer they spend their limited funds on reference books & stuff for class. It's not as if the kids are being denied access to the books. Is it a little kooky, a little reactionary? Maybe. Is the priest being overcautious by responding to the concerns of a few parents? Sure. Did the priest say the kids could read the books, but not at the school library? Yep. Still have no problem with this.

Yeah, probably has something to do with not paying taxes on that income. If you take it into the next calendar year, you have to pay taxes on it... Well, my flexible spending account is a health care savings account. I don't know if we're talking about the same thing. Either way, I'd welcome it if it was available, rather than having to scramble to buy an extra pair of glasses or two cases of Advil by the end of December...

Seriously, we're talking about one parochial school taking the books off the shelf in their library. It's not like they had a book burning, or told the kids that they would go to hell for reading the books. In fact, the pastor invited the kids who want to read the books to read them elsewhere, but they won't be able to get them at the school library. Big deal.

That really is a heartbreaking picture. Good luck to the Rockies next year - they have a lot of young talent, and I'd love to see them get another shot at the WS.

Francona's usage of Papelbon (at least wrt number of innings & how frequently he's used) is dictated by the team doctors, not by Francona. They chart his physical comfort level on a daily basis, and use that data to determine whether he's available to pitch, and for how long. It was only late this season that he was cleared to pitch more than two consecutive games, or to pitch the day after pitching more than one inning. Now that his shoulder is in better shape, he's likely to see more innings as the closer. Francona will have more leeway to use him more creatively as time goes on...

Drew did get plunked pretty good right above the right ankle yesterday, so that's probably gonna be pretty sore the next couple of days. But yeah, I don't know about putting Youk in the outfield. I'd just rotate it. Play Ortiz two days at first, Lowell two days at third and Youkilis one day at each.
