Jaymie
Prepare to enter the 36 chambers of the analytical hip hop bulletin. What are your top ten favorite hip hop albums?I
jhawk98
Interesting that you would include a Portishead record in a hip hop list. Obvious hip hop influence in terms of the instrumentation. I guess I just never considered it to be hip hop since the lyrics are sung instead of spoken. Actully, I don't know what I'd call it. Dummy is a phenomenal record at any rate. Okay, I'll give it a shot.. 10.Kanye West - The College Dropout09.De La Soul - 3 Feet High & Rising08.Eric B & Rakim - Paid In Full07.EPMD - Strictly Business06.The Roots - Things Fall Apart05.Beastie Boys - Check Your Head04.A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory03.Run DMC - Raising Hell02.Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back01.Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique
Mystik Spiral
I think I may come to appreciate this thread... I've never been a big hip hop fan, but after all the talk about the new OutKast in these parts I checked it out - and really enjoyed it. So I'm looking for good hip hop albums to check out. Outkast - Stankonia10. Dr. Dre - the Chronic You know, I seriously need to pick up "Pretty Tony", The only solo Ghost Face album I have is "FishScale" which I love. In fact, It's definately one of my top 5 albums of this year. Also, On threads like these, I don't think "Black Album" gets enough credit.Oft overshadowed by Jay-Z's earlier masterpieces, but It's my 11th favorite. And there is absolutely no denying that "99 Problems" has to be one of the ten greatest hip hop songs of all time.So great pick there.
rghammo
9. MC 900 ft. Jesus Does this mean MC 900 featuring Jesus? Probably not, but it's certainly funny.

MattZ
That one almost made my cut. Great tunes on that. Psychobetabuckdown...Real Estate... My world was turned upside down -- never to be the same -- when How I Could Just Kill A Man came out. That song simultaneously scared the shit out of me and made me want to bob my head up and down. Extra points for having Q-Tip in the video. Gotta give it up for psychobetabuckdown too, though. So great. Hole in the Head, Pigs, etc. So much classic stuff.
