EL the Famous
This is the post where, in real life I laugh in front of my PC and, on here, I act like I don't know you. I'm sorry, who are you again?
dontknownuthin
Nice to see so much love for the B-Boys, Tribe, De La and P.E. on these lists - that "backpack rap" era of hip-hop from '89-'93 produced some of my favorites: 10. The Predator - Ice Cube9. The Score - Fugees8. Paul's Boutique - Beastie Boys7. Criminal Minded - KRS-One6. De La Soul is Dead - De La Soul5. Illmatic - Nas4. Ready to Die - Biggie3. Low End Theory - Tribe Called Quest2. Fear of a Black Planet - Public Enemy1. Stankonia - Outkast To me, Bombs Over Baghdad remains the greatest hip-hop track ever recorded (along with Slick Rick's Children 's Story and Tribe's Scenario). If this were a list of most-influential or iconic albums I'd have to put Dre, Snoop and Tupac in there, but these are the hip-hop albums I look for in jukeboxes first. dontknownuthin
And speaking of bad-ass hip-hop tracks, for those that haven't heard this, it's the new Killer Mike. You may remember him from his verse on Outkast's "The Whole World": "glitter, glisten, gloss, floss, I catch a beat runnin like Randy Moss". That's Killer Mike. Here's his new cut that's got everybody talkin: That's Life.

MattZ
Anyone have any love for the soundtrack for Juice? So underrated. If I had thought of it, I would have had it in my top 10. Uptown Anthem (Naughty by Nature before they sucked), Nuff Respect (Big Daddy Kane before he sucked), title track (ErikB/Rakim), other tracks by EPMD, Too Short, Cypress Hill (before they got big), etc. There are definitely some clunkers on there, but the good stuff is top notch. dontknownuthin
That would definitely be in my Top 20. Nice call, Kyle. Here I come, so you better break North,As I stride, my gold chains glide back and forth.I care nothing bout you, and that's evident. All I love's my dope and dead presidents.Sound crazy? Well it isn't.The ends justifies the means, that's the system.I learned that in school then I dropped out,Hit the streets, checked a grip, and now I got clout.I had nothing, and I wanted it.You had everything, and you flaunted it.Turned the needy into the greedy,With cocaine, my success came speedy.Got me twisted, jammed into a paradox.Every dollar I get, another brother drops.Maybe that's the plan, and I don't understand,God damn----you got me sinkin in quicksand. But since I don't know, and I ain't never learned,I gotta get paid, I got money to earn. With my posse, out on the ave,Bump my sounds, crack a forty and laugh.Cool out and watch my new Benz gleam,Is this a nightmare? Or the American dream? So think twice if you're coming down my block,You wanna journey through hell? Well shit gets hot.Pregnant teens, children's screams,Life is weighed on the scales of a triple beam. You don't come here much, and ya better not.Wrong move (bang), ambulance cot.I gotta get more money than you got,So what, if some muthafucka gets shot? That's how the game is played,Another brother slayed, the wound is deepBUT they're givin us a Band Aid.My education's low but I got long dough,Raised like a pit bull, my heart pumps nitro.Sleep on silk, lie like a politician,My Uzi's my best friend, cold as a mortician.Lock me up, it's genocidal catastrophe,There'll be another one after me!A hustler.
