cryptique
Well, I was hoping to get an exciting game, but that wasn't exactly what I had in mind. At least they didn't lose.Of course, it was only on ESPNU, so I didn't get to see it. Listened to it on the radio. What an almost-debacle. I take a little comfort in the fact that Ohio State only beat lowly Illinois by seven points, but jesus, they're at least a Big 10 team. BALL STATE! Letterman ought to have a comment or two about this on Monday.
MrRain422
It got really scary late in the game. In fairness to the defense, 9 of Ball State's points were given up by the offense, and the second string was responsible for a lot of the problems. But still, way closer than it should have been. That was close to being the worst sporting event I've ever attended. As it is, I feel pretty good about making the trip. I know I'm going to get shit at work on Monday though. BALL STATE!I feel your pain. I didn't get to see any of the Michigan game and only saw the second half of the OSU game (after they curled up and went to sleep at halftime). To be honest, I kind of expected it from the Buckeyes--Tressel has a history of closing up the playbook in the weeks leading up to the Michigan game. They played this game so close to the vest that they had the look of a team going through the motions, doing just enough to escape with a win, trying not to get hurt, and trying not to expose too much of the playbook. As a fan, its a maddening thing to watch. (this was the first time all season I broke out my "Tressel's an idiot" chant ) There's probably some masterful strategy behind it, but dang, that was one lousy football game. If next week goes like this, too, I think the winner of the OSU/UM game is going to be whichever team can shake off the rust the fastest.
watch me fall
Gameday in Arkansas this weekend, however the game is not on ESPN. How does a game like Arkansas -UT get relegated to ESPN 2 and our game against Florida is on CBS at 3:30? I will never understand this scheduling stuff.

That's going to be some crazy shit.

watch me fall
What a tragedy. I'm not the biggest Miami fan in the world, but you have to feel for those guys. Back to football... Big game tonight. I hate I'm going to miss it.

quarter23cd
probably won't see it, but a Rutgers upset would be interestingWith Rutgers chillin' all the way down at #13 on teh BCS list, it will be really interesting to see what happens if they win out. Will the sportswriters who have been fawning over Louisville for the last week jump on the Rutgers bandwagon, even if they don't crack the top 5 by the end of the year? I don't wanna be a hater. I like a good underdog story as much as anyone, but if OSU makes it to the title game, I have to admit that I'd be far more nervous about playing Texas, Florida, or Michigan than I would be playing Louisville or Rutgers. I'm not sure that means they shouldn't have a right to play for it if they go undefeated, but I really think it would be a better game against one of those other teams. If I am wrong, I will swallow my Buckeye necklace.(not really--buckeyes are poisonous nuts, you know)

Moltisanti
How is Florida a "thug" program any more than Ohio State? Galen Hall hasn't been the coach there for a long time now.
cryptique
How is Florida a "thug" program any more than Ohio State? Galen Hall hasn't been the coach there for a long time now.Yeah, it cracked me up that someone would call the Gators "thugs" when their intrastate rivals include Miami and Florida State. It would be interesting to see a comparison of crime statistics/off-field incidents between those three programs. I'm betting Florida would come out looking like a bunch of choirboys by comparison. mpolak21
To all the 1 loss teams, you're welcome. What a great win! It reminded me of WVU's comeback win on Louisville last year, looks like the entire state of New Jersey is enjoying a long overdue victory. And I think my future wife in the picture above is pretty happy as well tonight. --Mike
