danelectro
Holy cow! It's looks like some douchebag has made off with J's prized guitars. Incredibly freakin' lame.
Sir Stewart
I'm glad they broke it down like that. Hopefully some alert clerk will recognize it when the scum tries to sell.I hate hearing about this type of thing. Seems to be a fad lately.
embiggen
this is terrible news possibly the worst news ever.
Atticus
wow. That just wrecks my day. God I hope the feckheads who are responsible for this are caught and summarily bludgeoned. That's one hell of a history of guitars there. Just saw J on the Dinosaur "reunion" tour and ears are still ringing from watching the magic he works with those instruments. Thanks for letting us know about this...
brianjeremy
Man that blows. I hope they can find the gear. One of the best shows I've seen this year.

deepseacatfish
Why do people have to steal musicians gear? It really bums me out.
LouieB
Why do people have to steal musicians gear? It really bums me out. Its time for bands to get smarter about security. This sucks, but something has to give. LouieB
cryptique
Why do people have to steal musicians gear? It really bums me out. Obviously you've never been addicted to crack. Me neither ... I'm just sayin'.
MattZ
I suppose that this is something already obvious to everyone, but another way to fight this horrible trend is to be sure that you are smart about buying gear in used shops/pawn shops. Be sure you never buy gear that is stolen (crossed out serial numbers, etc.) and be sure that if you ever SEE stolen gear in one of those shops that you boycott the store and tell all your friends about it. I know this probably has a minimal effect, sort of like boycotting ticket scalpers, but it cant hurt.
a.miller
That is so lame. Nothing worse than having stuff stolen from you. My car got it pretty bad on THE day I graduated from college. They even stole my fucking laundry.
Spawn's dad
Its time for bands to get smarter about security. This sucks, but something has to give. LouieB leaving a trailer full of gear in a parking lot in long island city isn't really the best idea. i'm sure any other solution is a huge hassle, but that's not exactly the place to leave your stuff unguarded. Sir Stewart
I forget which band, I but I remember reading about gear being stolen out of a truck that was locked and parked inside a padlocked parking lot. I mean, damn, what's a band gotta do, sometimes.
WilcoFan
Its time for bands to get smarter about security. This sucks, but something has to give. LouieB How about this. Have studio gear and have tour gear for things like guitars. I have certain guitars I would never leave just sitting in a van. And it's hot outside.

Take them in the hotel room, even if it is a pain in the ass or pay some roadie to sleep in the van with the guitars. Guitars are the tools these musicians use, so watch them 24/7. Mrs. Peel
I forget which band, I but I remember reading about gear being stolen out of a truck that was locked and parked inside a padlocked parking lot. I mean, damn, what's a band gotta do, sometimes. With a Club on the steering wheel too. They sawed through the Club, broke the ignition, and drove through the chainlinked fence of a guarded parking lot. Unfortunately, there have been so many incidents I can't remember which band it was. Film School, it was Film School.
rghammo
pay some roadie to sleep in the van with the guitars. Guitars are the tools these musicians use, so watch them 24/7. Louie B Then you've got some underpaid guy sitting out there putting his life on the line. You may feel bad losing your gear, but imagine how you'd feel if an employee got killed protecting your guitar.

You may feel bad losing your gear, but imagine how you'd feel if an employee got killed protecting your guitar.Okay sure...if you are leaving your equipment somewhere that the criminals are SO BAD that they would kill to get your equipment, then yea, I suppose a roadie in the van isn't a good idea. So if the place is so bad you can't leave a roadie in the van don't leave the fucking equipment in the van either, get it somewhere more secure. Either that or don't take expensive guitars, play cheap shit guitars and leave the good ones at home. LouieB
