New Lindsey Buckingham

Recommended Posts

Any Lindsey fans here? Oink, oink!

This new disc is one of the best "sounding" discs I've ever heard, even from a 320kb rip. The vocals and guitar sound like he is in the room with you live. Hard to explain. Very three-dimentional sound to the whole thing. It is ear candy for sure. I think he is one of the most underrated musicians of all time. Give it a spin!

Kevin, no "Holiday Road" here. That's on one of the National Lampoon Vacation movie soundtracks, I believe.

Yeah, it leaked on Oink, but it'll be released tomorrow. He did most of the CD himself, so maybe that's how he could keep it under wraps so long? I don't know.

OK, you can tell by my avatar, I'm a huge Lindsey Buckingham fan. :music So if you're a Fleetwood Mac hater, I don't mind, but just be kind. ( imsjry :thumbup )

I was able to listen to the new CD all weekend on Rhapsody, and some of the songs have been streaming on his website for a few weeks. It has been 14 years since his last solo CD (he's 58 tomorrow :party ), so this new CD is exciting for his fans. Makes me smile when I read that Brian Wilson thinks Lindsey is a genius. Pretty freakin high praise, IMO.

For this CD, it is more folk-pop in sound than his previous solo CDs, and a true showcase for his brilliant finger-picking skills. Jen and I are going to see him at the Ryman (5th row!) in Nashville Saturday -- autumn road trip! :dancing :dancing . He's taping a CMT Crossroads I think on Wednesday or Thursday at the Ryman, and that would be cool to see, but special invite only (so heads up to you Nashville people to get in from extra tickets at the door???) It will air sometime in December.

There are some incredible gems - "Down on Rodeo" and generous use of vocal echo which will be interesting to hear live. "It Was You" sounds like it is sung as a round. "To Try For The Sun" and "Cast Away Dreams" :wub

I'm such a fangirl :blush

I love the Mac and Tusk is in my top 10 albums of all time. I really wish Lindsey worked a little faster and got out of his basement a bit more!!

I'm liking the new disc a lot. Much more laid back affair then Out of the Cradle.

Lindsey's stuff on Tusk is his best work

any big names on this record ? or is he playing all instruments ?

He does it all. I think only one song even has "drums". Very mellow disc. Lots of wispered vocals and layered guitar. For die hard fans only, me thinks....

Who is he paired with for the Crossroads episode? I think Lindsey is awesome and love watching him play guitar, but what are the odds that his partner on this show sucks immenesly? Hopefully it's not a Toby Keith type. "Lovin you, ain't the rot thang to dooooo!!!"

Someone once offered me 50 bucks for this:

bucknickcvr.jpg

I bought it at a Salvation Army store for 50 cents.

If you really like Tusk, the re-master two disc set is the one to buy.

I have always said this guy is a great guitar player - check out some of the solos on the live (1980) Fleetwood Mac album.

I do not really care for his songs or lyrics - but he does do great things with sound.

Kevin ... :lol :lol :lol

Of COURSE I've seen that video. You just had to set me up for that one, didn't you. :shifty It's the name of a song, it's the name of an album, but you were referring to the bad video. Thanks for clearing that up. :P Such a joker.

It's soooo bad, so 80's, so hilarious. Egads. :stunned

You could have done better than that, though. There's a certain photo of Lindsey and a strategically placed guitar and that's all I'm sayin' ;)

do you have that record? I'd be glad to pass it on to you - if you want it.

Yes, I bought it back in the olden days. Thanks for the offer though :cheekkiss

I got this through on promo - couldn't believe it as I'd not heard anything about it.

It is really good, nicely produced, not too over the top or glossy, but Buckingham's vocals are drenched in effects but the guitars sound great as usual...

Have you seen The Dance? It was an MTV concert that got them back together... amazing concert I think, Lindsay's guitar work is amazing...

I can certainly second the TUSK remaster, really good.

And I'll also recommend the Buckingham album Out Of The Cradle which is really, really good but hard to get I think...
