ction
Adults in the fictional Texas town of Dillon don't seem to have any issues with getting romantically involved with high school kids. Which kinda seems odd.

ction
Buddy Garritty, you keep your hands off that Santiago!!! Based on how season 2 is going so far, I'm pretty sure Santiago is going to end up being an alien. And not the illegal kind.
watch me fall
I had a dream the other night about my bf and Tim Riggins. It was weird. And no, it's not what you're thinking.

hollow
Apologies for dropping into this thread without reading previous posts, but I am avoiding spoilers -- have heard great things about Friday Night Lights, and just checked NetFlix and it's on DVD. I had no idea there were 2 seasons on DVD already. I'm assuming this is probably a biased thread, but would you all recommend this show? I'm looking for some good NetFlix suggestions, and need some TV series to fill the void from the writer's strike and upcoming holiday TV season (which is usually repeats and xmas specials). It be helpful to know something like, "if you like x, then you'll like y" or the opposite. Thanks in advance!
gogo
There's been one season of FNL, which is now available on DVD, and the second season is now in first-run on NBC. I cannot recommend the first season highly enough. The pace is slower than many TV dramas, but you'll still find yourself on the edge of your seat on a regular basis. Emotional without being manipulative, realistic relationships, just beautiful. The storylines are verging on outlandish in the second season, but trust me, the first season is some of the most amazing television you'll ever see. I'm also a huge fan of Rescue Me, and I know more than one season of that is available on DVD. It's terrifying and harsh and filthy and hilarious. You'll be on the edge of your seat watching the firefighting scenes, and you'll cringe at every personal interaction (these are not healthy people).

We've watched all the Rescue Me seasons on DVD, just finished them up and of course the cliff-hanger season ending is frustrating because of the wait for the next season to be on DVD. Knowing you liked both is exactly what I was looking for, similar interests, thanks!

Also, since you're looking for recommendations - The Wire (HBO) is maybe the best show I've ever seen. There have been four seasons broadcast so far (fifth coming up, I believe) and season four is being released on DVD next month. Start at season one, sit back, and prepare to be entertained, amazed, exhilarated, confused, & devastated.
watch me fall
I hear that the teacher character only lasts 2 episodes. So I'm thinking Mrs. Coach gives him an ass whooping and then he gets fired? Anyway.... OMG!

Great writing (lots of Big Lebowski references), great acting, etc. There's at least 2 seasons out on DVD and the third may possibly be out. Of course, it's been cancelled so 3 seasons is it.
