Mr. Kinsley
Tower Record's going out of business sale is shaping up quite nicely. I bought the new Bad Brains dvd for 10% off, and scouted out some other crap I'm going to try to snag when the discounts go up. Right now all the books are 20% off...if they get to 50%, I'm gonna grab a few of the 33 1/3 books. And maybe some porn.I'm assuming you're talking about just the one near you and not the whole chain? As much as I prefer Amoeba, I'd still hate to see the record store die out completely. And yes, I know... assuming makes an ass out of you and Ming.
ction
As far as I know, the whole chain is going under.
Duck-Billed Catechist
The whole chain is closing. Although they are being purchased by another company, so they may reopen.
cryptique
There doesn't seem to be much sense in playing 16 inch out in the burbs, except for tradition/habit.That's just crazy talk. I know what you're saying ... I'm just a fan of the 16-inch game.
Sir Stewart
The Virgin Records that replaced the Tower Records around here is having hte same sorta liquidation sale. I didn't think about those 33 1/3 series books, so thanks SEAN.

LouieB
I have bought a person or two a 16 inch softball as a present. They are cool to have and after many uses they do soften up. I always used to like to play, but was never in a league. I once got to see Mike Royko play against some of my friends who had a team at Oscar Meyer school. It is the perfect sport for people who like to also drink and socialize at the same time. You really do see less of this than you used to. It used to be you couldn't go to a park without finding a game and that is really not so true anymore. Also it was something that you often did at a picnic. LouieB

I'm not sure they won any games.
Mr. Kinsley
As far as I know, the whole chain is going under. Damn my current lack of disposable income!!! While I hate to see this happen, I'm not above benefitting from it. The Sherman Oaks Galleria near my house (yes, the one from Valley Girl - although it looks nothing like that now) has a gigantic Tower as its centerpiece. I wonder where all the emo/skater kids will hang out now on Friday night?

If they have the "In the Aeroplane Under the Sea" book and you pick it up, could I maybe like borrow it sometime or something? They never stocked that one here.
