Synthesizer Patel
I think that was probably Ron Wood playing bass on that song - at least in the studio. Jeff Beck Group - BBC stuff Yeah, I think you're right, but he should have let Lane play it judging from that live version at the BBC.
Analogman
Anymore for Anymore - is one of my favorite songs - - plus it was recorded outside, which is pretty cool.

Ronnie Lane definately had the right attitude for making great music, just the wrong attitude to make any money from it.
Oil Can Boyd
True, awesome band...but I'd take Truth over Beck-Ola. I was just scrolling through the thread to make sure someone made that point.
Analogman
I always think of those as one album - as when I first got it on cassette back in the 80s, it had both of them on one tape. I think those two cds have been re-issued three times now.

Les Paul
The compressed version of the Faces boxset "Good Boys When They're Asleep" is pretty good. Every Picture Tells a Story is indeed Rod the Bod's career peak, though. Agreed, this is an awesome collection. I just caught an old Faces set on VH1Classic on a new show they run called BBC Crown Jewels. Seeing them play this stuff was incredible !
Analogman
I have that now - found it on a BT site. I have the audio of it for a couple of years - Big Perm gave it to me. Some of that BBC Jeff Beck Group stuff is pretty cool - I wish they would do an official release of it.
Sweet Papa Crimbo
Speaking of vinly, I have these: Coast to Coast: Overture and BeginnersSnakes And Ladders / The Best of Faces I had both of those on 8-Track. Sweet Fancy Moses I am old.
Welsh Rich
Well that's how I like things done too, but some people like surprises I guess. With my family my surprises tend to be "Fuck how could you get it that wrong" kind of surprises, but surprises none-the-less. No one buys me music for christmas / birthday now! Vouchers if anything. I've for First Step on CD which is good, but better is the "best of" one Good Boys When They're Asleep, which is absolutely fantastic... Pool Hall Richard is worth the price alone
Analogman
I am not really a fan of best-of cds, but that is the first Faces cd I ever bought.

Analogman
Man that would be grrreat. There was a big torrent of these tracks on dime a dozen a while back - the sound quality was not that great though.
