whiskeygirl
presuming I can actually buy his records at my local, which would you recommend for a very recent andrew bird convert ? [unfortunately, even though he's playing oz dates at the moment, he's playing a venue a 2 hour drive from where I live the same night I have tickets for joanna newsom - so I'm hoping he tours here again soon!] thanks in advance for your help
kickingtv2
i'd say just start out with his last album, and SERIOUSLY consider downloading his new cd that hasnt come out yet, its amazing. weather systems is ok but i dont know of anyone who enjoys weather systems over mysterious production of eggs
ms. yvon
i agree: mysterious production is the place to start. it's so rich. the fingerlings discs are terrific, too. he also has a live bonnaroo set from 2006 that is available for download on the bonnaroo site. solace
i know plenty of Andrew fans who dig Weather Systems over Eggs actually (even if i disagree), but both are amazing. also check out The Swimming Hour.
El Picador
Fingerlings 3 and Mysterious Production of Eggs
HighFives
yeah get eggs. and if some one tells you to get bowl of fire don't worry its the same thing as mysterious production of eggs. I think the Artist title is Andrew Bird and the Mysterious Production of Eggs and the actual album name is Bowl of Fire.

Serak_the_Preparer
yeah get eggs. and if some one tells you to get bowl of fire don't worry its the same thing as mysterious production of eggs. I think the Artist title is Andrew Bird and the Mysterious Production of Eggs and the actual album name is Bowl of Fire. Actually, Andrew's band was named Andrew Bird's Bowl Of Fire before he went solo. Andrew Bird's Bowl Of Fire made at least 3 albums, including the before mentioned "Swimming Hour" which is very good (my first taste of Andrew). The band included Nora O'Connor, among others. Andrew went solo for Weather Systems and then The Mysterious Production of Eggs. He still plays some of the old songs from the band in his solo shows. So now you know the rest of the story. LouieB
Actually, Andrew's band was named Andrew Bird's Bowl Of Fire before he went solo. Andrew Bird's Bowl Of Fire made at least 3 albums, including the before mentioned "Swimming Hour" which is very good (my first taste of Andrew). The band included Nora O'Connor, among others.Nora isn't on all the albums but all three are very good and very different than his later stuff. Also he is on Kevin O'Donnell's Quality Six at the same time, singing and playing. These albums are more jazzy and less consistant however. LouieB
