adjason
I have yet to hear it and would love to
M. (hristine
The rip I got:Bit rate: 232 kpbs (VBR) The sound is rounder and fleshier to my ears. The instruments blended and less digitized. Still can't wait for the official release. Sarah, hearing most of it for the first time yesterday, "Jeff's voice is sounding REALLY beautiful on this album." From the mouths of babes. Ah. Guest tandylacker
The quality of the webrip, I believe, was unusually good. This torrent on oink and one that I downloaded off of demonoid a couple of weeks ago are better. But the webrip was so good, and these torrents are so close to low quality, that there isn't much of a difference. It was ripped with iTunes 7.1 something and probably ripped in the fastest mode possible and all that. So it most likely has some issues. But if you have a copy of the webrip with pops, then this would be better. If someone wants an invite and actually wants one, then PM me.
Analogman
In other words, crap Mp3 rips.
M. (hristine
Yes. However, since I spend a good portion of my uninterupted music listening in my car, on fairly good speakers, that seems pretty adequate. Long gone are the days of lying down on the floor with headphones on and listening to an album front to back. It really depends on how one listens to music I guess. The only issue I see with "crap MP3 rips" is listener fatigue, which I remedy by going outside to play. Lalala. Been debating it since my reel to reel turned into a turntable. imsjry
I was a bit harsh on the pig-rip at first because it sounded so similar to the stream version I have. I finally listened to it on a really good system and it sounds much more dimentional than the stream version. The bass is more prominant (GREAT bass on this disc BTW) and the stereo separation is much better. Worth the download if you ask me.

What I really mean here is the method used - EAC is preferred - this is evident in reading over some of the rules at that one place. I don't think they are the sort of dudes to name something like that unless they feel strongly about it. Personally, these days I only listen to Mp3's if that is the only way I get something. I never understood what the difference is in ripping. I mean, if I use EAC or Nero to convert to the exact same format and bitrate, what difference does it make? bobbob1313
I've said it a hundred times and I'll say it again, John's bass playing on this disc is worth the price of admission.

I mean, if I use EAC or Nero to convert to the exact same format and bitrate, what difference does it make? I am not technically knowledgeable enough to know - but I am glad I learned how to use EAC. It must have some to do with the process and that EAC can be dialed in to read your disc drive.
epifromaustin
71.07 MB a piglet squealed: a 124 Mb (mp3 320) seems to be arriving...with promise of FLAC in short order... and with a 13th "hidden" and unknown track... (drone? something more?)
blindgonzo
hmm...i'm just getting this now and I'm very excited to hear this 13th track....thanks for letting us know!!

epifromaustin
yes, it seems identical to spongebob's too...someone somewhere is chuckling in a loft tonight...
kidsmoke
yes, it seems identical to spongebob's too...someone somewhere is chuckling in a loft tonight... I'm cool with it....that song makes me happy. Jeff played it once at a soundcheck, for my daughter, and we sang lustily along. Happy memories.
welch79
if "just a kid" is on the album, that just doesn't fit at all, even if it is a hidden track. don't get me wrong, it's a great song.

Edie
Do you think that this will be on the actual, honest-to-goodness, buy in-store copy?

I think you're basically right, but don't particularly care I guess. I'm a sucker for stuff that makes me happy. Perhaps a long empty bit before the song would make it less jarring? Edie, or should I say Raquel, I don't know....so far I see this as pretty much unfounded rumor.
Duck-Billed Catechist
I remember d/ling a copy of YHF that had their cover of Burned as the final track.
