stickman
OK, I tried searching for a thread on this already but didn't find the right thing, if it exists already, analogman will point me in the right direction, I'm sure. Anyway, what do you think is the best version of Misunderstood? You could go in a couple different routes but I'm thinking the one with the most "nothing"s or screamed the hardest. You decide. Gobias Industries
Uh, the best version any song is always solo.
aricandover
I like the version from the 99 period, with Jeff screaming at the end of the song, and no more than 14 nothings.
froggie
late 2002 and early 2003 are my favourites

yankhotelfox
I like the version from the 99 period, with Jeff screaming at the end of the song, and no more than 14 nothings. IMO, too many nothings does surely get a bit tedious. It seems to make the version less tight. Less than 15 sounds about right. The 7-16-06 Florence, MA show was the best version I've seen in person, actually, the best Wilco show I've ever seen period. It included Wishful Thinking, Hesitating Beauty and Far, Far Away, and The Late Greats (If you can believe that). The KT version is dang good as well.
froggie
actually, its one of those tunes thats been getting better with time. i saw 2 versions down here on the tour and they're much more polished. the "nothings" have reduced too. but those 2002 versions had a better atmosphere or feel to them

Brewinhand
I've got two..... The first is an audio version for waking up to when you're out of town.....disc 1, track 1 of the 06/11/2005 Berkeley show at the Greek Theater. There's just something about having that be your wake up call. Works like a charm every time. The second is a video version from the Glastonbury Festival on 06/25/1999 (Volume 2 -->The DVD Project). Jeff gets in this trance as he screams NOTHING over and over and over (from the previous footage, it seems the energy he's putting forth is definitely directed at some unkind individual in the crowd). When he finishes the NOTHING's, it looks like he can barely stand up...like he gave everyone he had to give some foolio the big F U....it's truly beautiful.
Kalle
I actually think the version that is on Kicking Television is fantastic.
