Reni
damn skippy. though hey - at least I have been able to celebrate two World Series victories, two years in a row......so, I am not complaining. However, as much as I love to watch baseball - and do almost everyday - it would be nice to see a decent game here and there. Cubs are under .500 too - so don't get too cocky. El Picador
"I want to be remembered as a good teammate," he said. "That's the most important thing for me. Numbers, I can't point to anything I want to do. Continue to produce. The fans, I want them to remember how I played. Not necessarily what I did, but when I took the field, when I played right field, and when I ran around the bases. No numbers. Just a picture of how I played." -Vladimir Gurrero I thought this quote from today's L.A. times pretty much sums up why I like this guy so much.
bobbob1313
It's really easy to say that when you are very probably one of the 5 best players of your generation and the most similar player to you for the last 9 years of your career is Mickey Mantle.
PigSooie
"Sources told the Boston Herald early Tuesday afternoon that "the Red Sox are no longer really in the running" for Mark Buehrle. That's what we figured all along. While the Red Sox and Yankees still can't be completely ruled out here -- especially if either team suffers another pitching injury -- Buehrle is probably on his way to an NL team. He's always wanted to pitch for the Cardinals, and indications are that they're pretty interested in trading for him now, rather than waiting for him to become a free agent. The Braves, Dodgers and Mets could also use him. "
bjorn_skurj
On BaseballComplaints About Schedule Arrive on TimeBy MURRAY CHASS Earlier this month, Boston Red Sox fans were angry. All right, Red Sox fans can often get angry when anyone says anything they construe as negative about their team or positive about their team

rareair
A Single A pitcher. awesome. and i suppose florida assumes jones' salary for the remainder of the term, which will free up some cash for griffey.
bobbob1313
awesome. and i suppose florida assumes jones' salary for the remainder of the term, which will free up some cash for griffey. The snag is on the money. The Marlins want more money than the million currently being reported. Especially if the prospect they give up is going to be of any worth.
Duck-Billed Catechist
Is he going to play center or what? I also read that there was some holdup regarding how much money the Cubs were sending. Not sure if that's been resolved.

Not sure if that's been resolved. The snag is on the money. The Marlins want more money than the million currently being reported. Especially if the prospect they give up is going to be of any worth. He would probably step in and play center from day one. Until Cody Ross is healthy, and then they'll form an absolutely deadly platoon, as Ross crushed lefties (to the tune of like a 1.000 OPS) and Jones has a career .850 OPS against righties. Though it's apparently off now barring an "Unexpected reversal". The Cubs weren't willing to give more money unless they got a better prospect in return. Oh well, it would've been nice. Back to the drawing board.
MrRain422
Todd Jones is just killing me. I was weary before, but I'm sort of hoping that they pull the trigger on the rumored trade for Eric Gagne.
Beltmann
The Brewers scored 9 runs in the sixth inning tonight. They also have the best record in the NL.

Sir Stewart
The Red Sox radio announcer (one of the new guys) just noted that Julio Lugo's .190 average was not affected by his latest out. I don't know why it works that way (something about the # of at-bats he's had), but it's kinda funny/sad.
Duck-Billed Catechist
I guess they reported on PTI that the Buehrle deal is done. The numbers being floated are 4 years at 50 million with an option for a fifth year. That is very far under market rate. Hard to believe.
Beltmann
A- Rod has 28 homers, but does everyone know Fielder has 27 ?Fielder also leads the NL in RBIs (tied with Carlos Lee at 62), and leads the All-Star voting for 1B. Brewers completed a sweep of the 'Stros this afternoon, after a Damien Miller 3-run walkoff homer in the 11th. They are now 14 games over .500, and are 12-2 since the Verlander no-hitter. The Crew has Thursday off, and begin a weekend series against the Cubs (in Chicago) on Friday. Both teams are red hot, so it should be a fun series.
