Dr. Steve Brule
Way back in 2001 I moved to Chicago. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot had been completed, and leaked. A friend suggested we go see "the new guy from Wilco" and some other guy at the Hideout. LeRoy Bach and Edward Burch played some of the sweetest songs I had never heard and a bunch of covers that kept me going back at least twice a month on Mondays thru April 2002 when LeRoy left to go on tour with Wilco and Ed went on tour with Jay Bennett. They came back of course, and were there on and off... sometimes Nora O'Connor and Matt Weber would be there instead, sometimes it was any combination of the 4 (plus random friends who would stop by and play with them - Steve Frisbie, Steve Dawson, Andrew Bird, John Peacock)... The one constant was that the music was always amazing and the experience was unparalleled. I met people on those nights who are my closest friends today, drank countless cans of PBR, and probably have no chance in hell at remembering some of the best stuff. I love Edward dearly, he is a wonderful man, a human jukebox, and is responsible for introducing me to some of my favorite songs EVER. He is moving to Texas, and his friends are assembling to give him the send-off he deserves: one more Monday night at the Hideout playing those songs we all love. If you live near Chicago, love music and life there is no way you should miss this evening. I am not even kidding. Or drunk. I suggest you purchase a ticket in advance as well. mpolak21
Looks like a great show, shame the thread turned into flame battle over what was all things considered a pretty harmless (and kind of funny) joke. Adam, allow me to impart some knowledge I learned back in elementary school the easier you are piss off, the more fun it is to piss you off. Sometimes you just have to let those Jay Bennett jokes go dude, it's a Wilco board people are going to make fun of him every once and awhile. --Mike
SquashedFrog
the funny thing is, its not only his frog that is squashed... Um, if that was an attempted "penis" insult, then yes that is what a "SquashedFrog" is. It's like, for example, when you walk to a bar window and press your junk up against it and yell "Squashed Frog!!"
