Sir Stewart
We don't have white castle down here. We do have crystal meth, but it's not the same...

Wilco Worshipper
Wow I can't believe a sliders thread has went this far. So I feel obligated to post a ridiculous WC story. Stupid I know. I did NOT think it would make it this far either, but I guess it's close to people's hearts, err stomachs... And I didn't think your story was stupid, I thought it was fabulous!!! Lammycat
I should mention that Charlie has a very large, very blond afro at this time. He looks at us mischieviously...he's gonna slam his fist down on the ketchup & make it splatter on the window. "Watch this man". He slams down on the table & the WHOLE LOAD of ketchup goes directly in his hair, streaking his afro, his face, glasses etc. with ketchup. Almost nothing at all anywhere else. Uncontrollable laughter from the rest of us. We all made it back home w/o incident...Fat Freddy!! Good yarn, too!

benjamin
a ridiculous WC story. hmmm... WC stands for White Castle and Worker's Comp. coincidence? Because the day after I have booze and white castle I feel like I can't work. On a side note for all you White Castle fans. I've been the guy in the drive thru at 2am who has held up the line because my drunk passengers wanted the Crave Case. Yes.... a briefcase filled with sliders. A freakin' Briefcase. LouieB
I discovered White Castle on my 1st trip to Chicago and made it a must on every return trip.White Castle is not a Chicago thing particularly (they are in many places in the midwest and perhaps other parts of the country) and they are totally disgusting, although I admit to having eaten them on occasion, always regretting it later. If you have to eat fast food in Chicago, at least eat a Chicago (Vienna Beef) hot dog which have some redeeming qualities unless you are a vegetarian. LouieB
tongue-tied lightning
I have been to Rutt's Hutt 417 River Road, Clifton, New Jersey. The best ripper dogs ever. it's been 20 some years since my last visit, which makes things taste even better.
foolnrain97
I'm a little amazed at the love-fest for WC here. In no way shape or form would I ever say that I love them. Eat them, sure...love them, no. Definitely drunk food. There is a concert venue here in Columbus that has a White Castle inside the venue. Tell me, do you really want to be constantly smelling sliders while trying to watch a show? (and, yes, I bought 4 of them during the set-break at a recent show, but that's only because I had a lot of beer too) I haven't had White Castle in 6 years and I am okay with that. They may be a Columbus tradition, but they're gross and a trip there once every decade or so is plenty for me. In regards to their installment at promowest(I refuse to call it the LC) that q23 has mentioned, I'd like to add that previously the restaurant inside the venue was damon's, and while it was a little pricey, it was so much better than WC. Also, if we're talking Columbus fast food traditions, Wendy's would have been a better choice. I've got a great WC story but I am hesitant to share it in mixed company.... I just moved back to town so never visited that place when there was a Damon's inside (not that I'm really even a Damon's fan, either, but it is definitely a step up), but yeah, I've started referring to that venue as "The WC" because of the White Castle inside. Thats ok, I can't watch that show without hearing Bob Saget in the Aristocrats. That's a bit more disturbing.

quarter23cd
Nice. What show did you go see recently?I got a soft spot for old hippies so I was at the Bob Weir & Ratdog show in a driving rainstorm a few weeks ago. (that was also the first outside show I've been to at that venue--the 'reversible stage' is kind of a cool idea, actually) Its been a pretty slow summer around here, concert-wise, eh? foolnrain97
Its been a pretty slow summer around here, concert-wise, eh? Yeah, sort of. I went to see Interpol a couple weeks ago and next week, I"ll probably go see Modest Mouse. The Killers are coming and I've got tickets to both the Smashing Pumpkins and Arcade Fire in the fall. I tried to see Hot Hot Heat this past weekend, but it unexpectedly sold out the day of the show. Unexpectedly because it was the same night as the Irish fest, the State Fair, and Gallery Hop. Oh well. Oh and the reversible stage thing works out well. The inside of the venue is just as good as the outside.
