I think it sux! anyone else have it and have problems? suggetions? smart ass remarks? thanks!
Edie
Sux is a nice word for it. I much prefer XP

quarter23cd
I have not heard a single good thing about Vista yet!Yeah, I've got a new laptop on order and it will be arriving with Vista. I'm determined to give it a go. Can't be worse than my current laptop that sometimes struggles to run Windows 2000 Professional....can it?
isadorah
one (abbreviated) word: mac

WilcoFan
Yeah, Vista is horrible. It treats you like the most base form of life on earth by trying to dumb down your entire experience and asking you security questions. Also, I cannot install a lot of software that my wife has been using for years. The only way to install things is As Administrator and I still get a lot of problems. They should not have shipped this junk.
anodyne
for being so long overdue, it should be much more awesome.
explodo
for being so long overdue, it should be much more awesome.Or even any bit of awesome at all. Vista is a nightmare.
anodyne
i hear that it's bad, but is it windows ME bad? that was pretty much the worst. (i was a tech support person back then, but haven't done tech stuff for the last 5 years. i've also been a mac user so i don't need to fix stuff too often.) bjorn_skurj
As it's not a good idea to by a model of a car the first year it comes out, it's not a good idea to buy an OS the first year it comes out. Subsequent versions may be better.
jenbobblehead
unfortunately, it is nigh on impossible to get a new computer that isn't already loaded and embedded with the new software.
anodyne
the mac OS releases are overtested before being released. i have been through four mac OS upgrades and never had a real problem.

explodo
i hear that it's bad, but is it windows ME bad? that was pretty much the worst.I only used ME a few times personally (it went away quick), but from what I understand, it is as bad or very close.
anodyne
imho, this is microsoft throwing down the gauntlet to you windows users and begging you to do something about it. i guess when you have something in the ballpark of 90% of personal computers running your OS, you can be ballsy and ask people to pay a lot of cash for a piece of shit. anodyne
if you are getting a new mac, i'd strongly suggest one of the new imacs. that's apple's best bang for the buck. the macbooks are alright (that's what i have), but you get more computer for your money with the imac. quarter23cd
My new computer was a gift. I shall try to be grateful...  I did tech support for a primarily Mac-based company back when they were making the OS9/X switch--in fact, a large portion of my job initially involved doing the upgrades on individual workstations. It was an interesting experience, particularly because I knew almost nothing about Macs at the time. (I could never get over how, in the interview, they never bothered to ask if I knew Macs) They have their quirks, but I will admit that it was a relatively painless transition for the most part. I've not used teh Vista yet so I'm trying not to judge. I'm strangely excited to find out if it is truly as bad as I've heard.
anodyne
os9 to osx was a HUGE switch, too. i really hated os9. i used it grudgingly. osx is so nice. not having to reboot when you install any software is nice.
a.miller
I switched to Mac a couple years ago, right when OSX came out. I won't go back to PC...too many problems that will NEVER be solved.
