dondoboy
Go to the Bronx at 2nd and Prentiss. That's true, the Bronx is pretty awesome. And the best dual jukebox in town
Guest Alan
Hockey Town Cafe is right across the street, and the closest place. not far from the fox you also have the detroit brewing company. i don't really spend much time in the D drinking though.

augurus
Know of any good places to eat post concert in the vicinity or anywhere in downtown? Also, anyone know of any 'cheaper' parking spots downtown? Maybe I should just park in the casino, take the mover, and walk my way there for cheapness.

Maybe I should just park in the casino, take the mover, and walk my way there for cheapness. I was a sucker and paid 12 bucks for the fox Theater garage parking. Between 2 thirty-three dollar tickets, parking and fees I ended up paying over 100 bucks. ticketmaster is just plain evil. Ticketmaster even had a fee for the parking. cryptique
Also, anyone know of any 'cheaper' parking spots downtown? If you can find parking on the street back behind the Fox, it's free. Just make sure it's legal. I often get lucky down there when we come in for shows or Tigers games. Sometimes the guys running the lots back there try to tell you that it's not safe to park on the street, but I've never had any problem (they're just trying to get you to pay them to park in their lots). Another thing I've done is to park in the Greektown Casino structure. That's expensive UNLESS you get your ticket validated in the casino. Last time I was there, I had to go upstairs in the casino to find a desk where they validated the tickets, but then I walked right back out of the casino -- free parking. The casino is a bit of a walk from the Fox. I should mention that I haven't done the casino-parking-validation thing in a couple of years, so I don't know if it still works the same way. shesintheway
Thanks very much for all the tips. I knew that I'd come to the right place. Looking forward to the show Wed night.
MrRain422
Oh yeah, there's usually all sorts of parking around there so long as you get there early enough, but if not, that Adams street underground garage is really cheap. Or at least it used to be. I know I used to pay like $5 to park there, although I guess it may have gone up.

My sis (who lives downtown) claims that the only thing the people mover transports is urine. Whenever I used to go there, I'd manage to get Opera House parking. Underground. $5. dazzler
I gotta have me some dragon's eggs, so Union Street is the place for me (across the street from the Majestic). Atlas Global Bistro (between Union Street and the Fox) is great as well. And maybe a pint of Ghetto Blaster from Motor City Brewing on Second and Cass(ish). The Missus and I are really really looking forward to the show. Have a great time everyone!!!
literary tonic
that was the best fucking show I've ever seen in my entire life and yeah, I don't get out much, but holy shit. And I don't want to make this an OSU and U of M thing but Jeff did say Columbus was a bunch of pussies compared to the Detroit Rock City crowd, but then again, what should one expect? We're often drunk here and have a lot of unemployment... what else is there?

Wendy
Head over here for the after-the-show discussion thread! I hope I did that correctly. I'm still not quite recovered from seeing Andrew Bird play and whistle on Spiders!

As I told everybody last night I was reading in Rolling Stone where they said that Detroit audiences are the greatest rock and roll audiences in the world.I thought to myself, shit I've known that for ten years.
