wilcohead
http://www.saintedpr.com/media/daft_punk_main.jpg I just listened to their performance at pukkel pop 08-19-2006 and I was floored at how badass these robots really are! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daft_punk
tellya
never heard of them but I see that they are on the lineup for Vegoose this year

Sir Stewart
I'm a fan - Homework was a big deal when it came out, sounded like nothing else, and the videos were great. I was equally obsessed with Discovery, but that cooled off when my friend played me a disc of the songs that they built that one from, and the tunes were just too similar for me to continue thinking the guys were geniuses. Kanye uses that sample for "Stronger" pretty well.
solace
Homework was amazing, Discovery was pretty solid, but haven't liked that much since
sureshot
On album? Kind of meh. But can you say best live show on the face of the earth?
rileykill
The live album is awesome - one really long track. I'm a fan.
sureshot
I remember around 95-96 when "Da Funk" was playing pretty much non-everywhere you went. pretty much the only dance track I can think of aside from Underworld- Born Slippy that got widespread rotation on your standard alternative radio. honestly tho, is that all it took was a kanye sample to get these guys mainstream attention? they've been around for ages. Sir Stewart
by mainstream i mean going from DJing at club shows to headlining Lollapalooza and Coachella I don't think the Kanye sample had anything to do with that - I might be wrong though.

G_willy
I would consider myself a closet daft punk fan to the public. I dont think alot of peoeple appreciate there style of music so I tend to not bring it up...but I do love robot love jams.I remember around 95-96 when "Da Funk" was playing pretty much non-everywhere you went. pretty much the only dance track I can think of aside from Underworld- Born Slippy that got widespread rotation on your standard alternative radio.honestly tho, is that all it took was a kanye sample to get these guys mainstream attention? they've been around for ages.ooo how i love born slippy
Sir Stewart
I think "Around the World" played on a loop in my head for a whole year back in the back in the.
jdmel
i saw a shirt that said "all my friends love daft punk"thats my feeling on the band exactly. saw them at lolla though, coolest craziest show you will ever see, I saw the flaming lips a couple of weeks and walked out saying not even 1/10th of what daft punks show was
solace
by mainstream i mean going from DJing at club shows to headlining Lollapalooza and Coachellathe Kanye sample came after all that... they've been pretty fucking huge in the US in terms of live shows for a while now
rsjbraz
the Kanye sample came after all that... they've been pretty fucking huge in the US in terms of live shows for a while now I can't believe they are still going and so popular! When I was an old techno DJ I used to see em do live showcases back in 94 in tiny dingy clubs around UK,they havn't done much of note for a number of years but that live show does look good! FourStrongWinds
i dont usually enjoy computer music but they sure know how to write a hook
sureshot
.ooo how i love born slippy you should pick up Dubnobasswithmyheadman. Great electronica, especially "Mmm Skyscraper I Love You"
Mr. Kinsley
On album? Kind of meh. But can you say best live show on the face of the earth? Best? All I see is a bunch of shiny lights and two bobbing helmeted heads. The music is rather catchy, the lights rather bright, but it doesn't seem all that noteworthy. Maybe the best light show on earth. G_willy
ooo... trust me, I have them all. That album is the best to goto sleep to, it creates some pretty crazy dreams.
