It is worth noting that the true Yankee knocked in the team's only run to this point.

Arod's going to get run out of town and unless the Yankees seriously find some pitching (like, Hughes is a stud next year and they find another top of the line starter) they aren't making the playoffs. They don't make the playoffs this year without him either.

Johan Santana's going to be one rich righty.

That merely speaks to how valuable he will be in the free-agent market!

Damn. As much as I love to see the Yankees lose, I do feel for Torre. How difficult it must be to show up for a press conference knowing that you're probably out of a job tomorrow...

Torre is all class.

Steinbrenner is not as bad as he used to be, but he's still major league a-hole.

I think you're the only one harping on that. The guy put up one of the great seasons of all time. He played on par with everyone else in the playoffs and the pitching was what unraveled them. Steinbrenner already said they're going to resign him, whether that's posturing or not we'll see soon.

Damn Yankees. Time for some changes.

At least I won't have to see anymore Frank TV or Dane Cook ads.

I wish the final four luck. May the best team win. (probably Boston, right?)

I'm pretty sure the Dane Cook ads are MLB-sponsored, so they'll continue through the rest of the postseason. Unless, waitaminnit - are you saying you're going to stop watching just because your team is out of it? :brow

I certainly won't be staying up late to watch the games. Many of these start way past my bedtime.

On Torre: I don't think he was ever coming back next year. I think the Yankees job has been Girardi's (sp?) since he turned down the Baltimore job. There's some talk that since he was tight with Zimmer Steinbrenner won't hire him, but I think that's way overrated and his success in Florida plus his obvious Yankee history wins him the job over even Mattingly.

Typical Yankee fan.

I remember minutes after Aaron Boone's moonshot, thinking "Well, at least now I have a chance to watch the Yankees lose the World Series."

Kidding you though Gary - I wouldn't stay up late for games my team wasn't involved in either.

and into Boston where they'd write the exact same article if he didn't go 18-20 with 14 home runs? :rolleyes that's the price for being one of the highest paid people on the planet. Keep wishing folks but he isn't going anywhere. Steinbrenner wants that all time home run record to be held by a yankee again.

:lol of anybody to laugh at the Yankees defeat it shouldn't be a mets fan. You guys should still keep your heads down for a while.

I think you meant to say: 26 World Championships baby!!!!

:cheekkiss

EDIT: come on. Yanks fans openly and vocally rooted for a mets collapse and got it. Yankee fans got plenty of licks in. And then the Yanks ended up playing a whopping 4 games more than the Mets. I think some good natured chuckling is in order.
