Wilco Worshipper
Sooo, hard as it is to believe...I've never gotten a chance to share Wilco with my best friend. She lives in Ohio. So she came to visit for a cpl days this week and I played some of SBS for her. She dug it so much, she picked up a copy for herself before she left town. She listened to it in full twice on the way home. I am SOOO thrilled I played for her: Walken (as it my daughters' fave and I LUV the coda, as my girls do as well)Please Be Patient With Me (special to me and made another good friend of mine cry as she was going thru a tough time w/ her hubby)Either Way (started everyday with that for 3 weeks straight from May 15th on)On and On and On (for SOOO many reasons) She has already decided that 'On and On and On' is her favorite I love introducing Wilco to new ppl and having them "discover" it for themselves!!! H.Stone
Ah, it's always nice finding another fan! (Or creating one...) One less person to say, "Who?" when you say you're going to see Wilco.
Guest Alan
if i was only going to play one song off of SBS for someone, it'd be You Are My Face.
poppydawn
Yay! It seems that SBS is winning over lots of new fans of might not have liked the "noise" factor of the previous CDs. I gave a copy to a friend's 17-year-old son. He loved it (no surprise; he's a guitarist), and insisted that his James Taylor-loving mom have a listen. Now she's hooked. I love converting people. I had my mother listen to YHF a few years ago. She's a big rock fan (Who, Tull, etc.). She could not get into it...I guess it was too strange. But I got her SBS for her 67th birthday in June & she really really dug it!

Kudos to having one of the most badass moms ever.

Jethro Tull's first album came out when she was 28. She's only seven years older than Ian Anderson.

Still, a pretty good gal. My old man's b-day is today! A big Neil fan. (sorry to hijack the thread WW)

Wilco Worshipper
(sorry to hijack the thread WW) Too funny!!! I was like "Hey, look NINE replies while I was away!!!"...*sigh* No biggie...whatever gets ppl talking works for me And, I did forget to mention...idk how I did it, 'cuz it's absolutely a-ma-zing to me...but I also played LMLYFM. It's weird, because when I first got the album it was one of the few I skipped here & there. Now I can't listen to it without listening to that one and sometimes twice

Well...after the Dallas show on Sept. 14th (see report from 9/15), D-man has indicated to me his favorite band is Wilco. "Jeff Tweedy's lyrics are phenomenal!" The circle remains unbroken
Wilco Worshipper
Well...after the Dallas show on Sept. 14th (see report from 9/15), D-man has indicated to me his favorite band is Wilco. I did read that last month...you did a great job of making me/us feel like we were there! "Jeff Tweedy's lyrics are phenomenal!" D-man is one intelligent kid!!! Hi my name is Lee
When I started dating my girlfriend, it was pretty clear that if she didn't get my Wilco addiction, the relationship wouldn't last long. The song that got her into Wilco was "Remember the Mountain Bed," and while it isn't an authentic Tweedy song, it does rank in the top 10 of my favorite songs.
Sweet Papa Crimbo
I did read that last month...you did a great job of making me/us feel like we were there!D-man is one intelligent kid!!! He really is. I feel a particularly close bond to him because he is me made over. I just got back from a nine-day trip to Canada (Lake Louise, Jasper, Banff...fucking awesome) and that was the longest period I have EVER been away from him. Until he was around 5, I bathed him and put him to bed every night. Mom was there (and still is)...but he is UNDOUBTEDLY my son...in every sense of the word.

Yes, ppl think I joke...but I really do NEED the next guy I'm with to "get Wilco"...no doubt about it!!!
Gobias Industries
It's not so odd, really. Jethro Tull's first album came out when she was 28. She's only seven years older than Ian Anderson. For me it is. Around my circles listening to Jethro Tull, let alone knowing who they are, is either non-existent or meaning that its existence means the devil is around. CommerceComet
It took me several years to get my best friend into Wilco. Somehow YHF didn't do it, but KT and SBS definitely did. Must have been Nels.
