meikelkorleone
seeing WILCO in my hometown in Germany.that's more I've ever expected or could imagine... ++ getting a reply to my song request from jeff, and getting the request too- - getting no reply from the taper, and even no tape from this show
Guest David Puddy
2007 was kind of an off year for me with regards to wilco. i got much more into UT this year, for the first time, and took a bit of a break from wilco, although i've been listening to some live '03 stuff the past few weeks. best moment: any moment while "please be patient with me" is playing. sweetheart-mine
i've had two best moments: 1. discovering jeff tweedy & wilco for the very first time, by accident, when i turned on the ovation tv channel one day this summer and the "man in the sand" documentary was on. the first thing i saw and heard was jeff beginning "when the roses bloom again." i stopped walking toward the couch and froze, listened to the whole song, and then screamed to my husband "I LOVE THEM! WHO ARE THEY!" 2. getting my ticket this morning to what will be my first wilco show, in february in new haven. i can't calm down. it's past 3 p.m., think i'll have a glass of wine or three and toast all the helpful posters here at via chicago who encouraged me. ginnvt
I am long time lurker on the board - just posted yesterday for the first time and want to thank a couple of way nice vc'ers for helping me get the password for New Haven. Best '07 Moments:1) Bringing my entire family (mom, wife, two boys - 9&5) to the Shelburne, VT show. Three generations of Wilco fans (yes, my mom loves the band) seeing the band together for the first time. The soundcheck that day was outstanding as well. 2) Having my photograph selected as one of the winners of this years contest - "Ice Cream Girls" is the picture. 3) Up close at Merriweather - which was the best show I saw this year. 4) Grabbing a ticket for face value (7th row) for the Pritzker Pavillion show while in Chicago on business - priceless. Worst '07 Moments:1) Listening to loud "talkers" at the Pines show in Northampton standing right next to us - I am talking LOUD... 2) Realizing that I cannot make any of the shows at the Riv no matter how hard I have to justify it... evol79
Best: Singing along to "Shot in the Arm" in Atlanta in the pouring rain. Worst: Not getting tickets to the Ryman for this March. Effin scalpers.
Hippycat
Best moments certainly include listening to the original Saturday night album release stream of SBS. That really felt special to me, like we were told a fantastic secret that everyone would want to know, and we were allowd to be in on it. Special thanks to the good people who helped capture and pass on that secret. Saw 2 great shows, Toronto and Detroit. Meeting the entire band and getting autographs and pics after the Toronto show was super cool too. Missed moment: My girlfriend couldn't wait around after the Toronto show and missed meeting the band. Maybe next time.
lamradio
Lamrods Wife: I think I was *right* behind you at the Charlotte show. Did your hubby yell out "Macromaniac!" ? Sorry that I'm just now replying.. I missed your post. No, actually I dont have a hubby.. I am my wife's "hubby" though.. lol.. I get mistaken for a female a lot because of my name, so I have changed it to just "Lamrod" to avoid further confusion. I didn't yell out "Macromaniac" but I do remember that.. hilarious moment.. Jeff was like "You were just waiting for the perfect moment to yell that out weren't you".. Jeff was really funny that night.. Remember "Indy Barry White"? Funny stuff...
