vinluvr
Ah, I usually head west. I think I know what place you're talking about though. Great, now I'm hungry for pho. well, at least you only have to go a mile and a half to scratch that itch. that pho place in the vietnamese strip mall is awesome. it is almost impossible to spend over $30 between 2 people and eat all the food. great great pho. first time poster here. long time fan. great board, folks. psyched for these shows! EL the Famous
Oh really? really...but i will require at least 30 minutes of cuddling afterwards. or a beef sandwich.
Edie
I envision these shows being like "name this tune" with the crowd all whispering/screaming the name of each song to each other. And the Green Mill -- I can't wait for it to go smokefree so that my husband doesn't come home reeking of tobacco anymore
NightOfJoy
Wow, what a fun idea!! I wonder......will JT ask any or all of the former members to take part? That'd be interesting......
kimcatch22
And the Green Mill -- I can't wait for it to go smokefree so that my husband doesn't come home reeking of tobacco anymore Just a few more weeks! I don't know what some of the dives are going to do. I live right by the Sovereign -- the smell of stale smoke pours out of that place all the time. Can't imagine that place with clean air! Smoke-free shows will be great, though. I saw The Blow at the Empty Bottle a couple months ago and she was begging the people up front to stop smoking so she could sing better. Yeesh. cryptique
I wonder......will JT ask any or all of the former members to take part? That'd be interesting......My guess is no. That's only a guess, though. I think Tweedy loves playing live with this lineup and wants to see what they can do with the back catalog.

Is chicago smoke-free on 2008 on every establishment? So every bar and restuarant is smoke-free? What about other places, any exceptions?
NightOfJoy
Should we be more trustworthy then? They have a live band in there? Cover? Carols is a great place, used to take my wife dancing there years ago. Not sure if Sidewinder is still playing there, hopefully so. You could name about ANY country tune and they'd play it. No reason to be leery......the place has real people in there, not just yups and hipsters. One of the bartenders has the most amazing Kentucky mudflap...that, coupled with his polyester truckers hat....quite a sight. Did I hear Lake View Lounge closed?!? Damn, that hurts....hurts bad. What about other places, any exceptions? I think most of the country is going that way - you don't want people to get cancer when they are busy drinking/over-eating themselves to death. What about other places, any exceptions? It's a January 1 state-wide ban on smoking in bars, restaurants, and stadiums. I think most other public places fell under the 1990 Clean Air Act (but don't quote me on that -- it's what I remember seeing on the doors of the park district I worked at.) LouisvilleGreg
Is it too early to start asking kind hearted Chicagoans on VC for possible places to stay? The tickets are one thing, but the prospect of spending several hundred dollars on a hotel is daunting. PM me and we can chat. Thanks in advance, Greg

Trib article about the smoking ban Wow so thats that. Smoking thing seems to be an old fad. I grew up thinking smoking was cool. I think the newer generation will not see it that way with all that is going on. I consider it a good thing even though it had to be forced onto us by unfair laws and propaganda. brettac1
So, do we have any idea how much the ticket package will run, yet? $150 for all five nights for one person? Maybe more? I think I can work out hotel accomodations, but I'm not sure just yet.
gogo
So, do we have any idea how much the ticket package will run, yet? $150 for all five nights for one person? What about other places, any exceptions?Pretty much everywhere, and no where within 15 feet of an entrance to any building, not just restaurants and bars. Even if it is a privately owned factory (in my case), smoking has to be done away from the building.
Guest Jules
You will receive one pass that will allow you access to all 5 shows. JamesTicketing Customer Service DepartmentMusictoday, LLCThe Artist/Fan Connectionwww.musictoday.comFYI, it will be one pass per musictoday.com. Everyone should keep this in mind when considering sharing the 5-show pass. There will be some logistics involved with transfering the pass to each other.

mpolak21
Yer too slow, I reported myself as soon as I saw that I had done that. I'm aghast at my behavior! mpolak, I apologize to you and to all the fine denizens of your beloved state. If you'd like to pm me a slap or something, I promise to apply it promptly. It's okay kidsmoke, last time I checked my state wasn't governed by the star of Junior . Interesting side note, last year when I was buying The Crane Wife at the Charleston Circuit City I bumped into our governor, Joe Manchin. He was there buying a radio and standing in the check out line. I said hello and shook his hand (because he is both Catholic and a Democrat, my grandmother has declared him the second-coming of JFK, he's probably not even Teddy-level yet, so I had to at least say something to him so I could tell this story). Anyway, he checked out in front of me and than I came up in the line and the check-out guy looked me and said "why are there two state troopers following that guy in the suit and his wife?" Because he's the Governor... only in West Virginia, can you run into your Governor (who never acted alongside Danny Devito as his twin brother) at Circuit City. Sorry to hijack the thread. Pretend the governor said something to me about the pre-sale password. --Mike
delmarkurt
Does anyone know if there is a password needed for the WXRT/Jam, Ticketbasterd pre-sale that starts on Friday?? If so, does anyone know what the password is?? Thanks.
