sticky2000
Does anyone know where I can get an mp3 or wav etc for this song (live or studio)?? (not torrent or similar, they such a hassle) It's such a heartwarming song and it would be great if any links or files could be located for me. Thanks a lot, sticky rich

Kevan
I just heard this song for the first time tonight. Wow. I can't even say much more beyond that. It's just an amazing poem. Obviously, credit to Woody Guthrie there. Jeff was perfect though. What a song....
Basil II
Give Jay Bennett some credit here....... It was him that pretty much cajoled Jeff to cover stuff that Bob Dylan passed over.... -Robert

But the way the music was constructed to fit the lyrics is one of the most amazing things I've ever encountered in rock music. Or ANY music, for that matter.

lamradio
Had the privilege of seeing it performed live in Asheville earlier this year.. I was close to tears through the whole thing. What an amazing song..

Clearly, this being my first time hearing it, I'm a little late to the game. Kinda sucks, because There's so much from the Jay period I just don't know. I'm trying to learn but it's not easy. Thanks for the heads-up, though! You know what I'd like to see? A list of each (wilco) band members contributions on each song.

If you do a little sleuthing, you just mind find that which I speak of.

All the Wilco albums save for Being There and YHF have a track-by-track break-down of that in the liner notes. --Mike

Mountain Bed is truly a stunning song. The best live version I've heard is from night 3 of last year's Residency shows. Look for the Dewey AUD on the torrent sites, it's worth your time. One of the VC'ers from Italy (I think) also put together some beautiful artwork / CD covers for all 5 nights. True as that is about Jay's persuasion, I believe Jeff has really owned these songs for a long time, and made them his own. :thumbup

choo-choo-charlie
Perhaps you should just buy it and support the band. Could you spare a dollar? I remember someone got raked over the coals here once for asking about obtaining a commercially available recording...just sayin'.
