gogo
When my nephew (one of those "knows all about the states" types of geeky kids) started the on-line test, the first question, in the category State Capitals, was "It's a French first name, and the capital of South Dakota". And I thought, great, he's got this one nailed, off to an easy start... But he froze! So all that kept going through my head then was "Baton Rouge, Cindy! Baton Rouge!" Luckily, he came back strong with the next couple of questions. He's still tearing his hair out over that one, though.
IATTBYB
Just read the e-mail they sent me yesterday reminding me that the test is this week. It's a good thing I didn't delete it as it was in my spam folder and I totally forgot about this. Good luck to everyone taking this over the next three days.
theashtraysays
Thanks for the bump. Tonight's the night for us EST folks. I'm psigned up and psyched. Hopefully the ice storm won't knock out the internet connection... that would be most unfortunate.
Moss
If I get on there I'm legally changing my name to Turd Furgeson. Can't wait to see how horribly I do.

Can't wait to see how horribly I do.I said this back in '06 and I'm saying it again. If I get on and have a huge lead (or more likely farther in the red than the U.S. government) I'm going with the "What is Uranus, Alex." I don't care if the category is The Solar System or Those Darn Etruscans.

IATTBYB
I'd suggest changing it to "Where" rather than "What."It will all depend on the context. For instance, "What" will be appropriate if the clue references size ("This is the largest country formerly a republic in the Soviet Union") whereas "Where" will be appropriate for locations ("In England, a vehicle's motor is located here.") cryptique
I was floundering at the beginning, but I finished VERY strong. Hard to say, though ... I felt better about the test two years ago.

theashtraysays
I do better on the "logic" kinds of questions than the pure trivia / knowledge questions. The test tonight had very few of those. Must have been a dozen on authors... Did we all have the same test? Mine started with something about a Hindu god, and went downhill from there. Also one about who was president in 1812...
