replacements75
I don't know if this was mentioned before but I got an email from the band the National (who are awesome and everyone should check out) about a show that their guitarist and Glenn are playing in NYC. Looks like Glenn isn't taking any sort of break in between playing North America and heading off to Australia. Anyone else going? I got tickets for the 13th. Very excited, Glenn is such an amazing player. I saw Jeff's solo show here where Glenn opened for him. I fell in love with a drummer. 13 MAR: NYC, NY - THE KITCHEN / Bryce Dessner + Glenn Kotche w/ Matthew Richie // Tickets >>14 MAR: NYC, NY - THE KITCHEN / Bryce Dessner + Glenn Kotche w/ Matthew Richie // Tickets >>
bböp
I'm extremely, extremely bummed to not be able to go these, but unfortunately it just can't be helped. I'm developing a very poor track record when it comes to Glenn's NYC appearances. First, the Mike Patton/Rahzel gigs at Warsaw, then opening for Andrew Bird at Radio City last year. Anyone who can go to these gigs, though, should. I bet they will be quite awesome.

radiokills
i just get the impression that maybe he wouldn't have the ability to put on a good show by himself. remember, i'm basing this on absolutely nothing.

Three dollars and 63 cents
I really wish I could go. The first show is on my birthday. Glenn was loading a van with equipment last night to send down to New York. He seems to really be looking forward to these shows.

replacements75
I too was under the impression that this was a collaborative effort. Though either way it should be excellent. I was wondering when they got together to work this out though because as far as I can tell there is only a small break in the Wilco tour schedule before this show. Glenn is an amazing performer and so talented. And Bryce is awesome too. Even without the National, just check out the work he's done with the Clogs where he plays a more classical guitar sound. So either way I think this will be an excellent show weather they play solo or together. I did get nervous about this show not going down because I saw the National on Friday night at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and Bryce was nursing a bad back after taking a spill down some stairs apparently. He sat on a stool for most of the evening but still managed to pull off some genius guitar work. As far as hanging out with them, I would imagine that in that space it would be very conducive to that. I have yet to meet Glenn or Bryce (though I hear they are both very approachable) but I did manage to meet up with the rest of the National after Fridays show at a bar just down the street from BAM and every single one of them were terrific and were really kind with their time. I would say everyone that can make it to these shows, should indeed!!
replacements75
PS- I actually just checked out the Clogs website and it says that this event is "Bryce Dessner & Glenn Kotche present new compositions with projections by Matthew Ritchie" So I don't know but that sounds like a collaboration but then again, its not exactly stated.
