theshack1990
What an incredible show, one of the best I've seen in recent memory.I had requested "Pick up the Change" through wilcowolrd on Sat, can't believe they played it, just goes to show how much they really care about their fans, though I got the impression that the band wasn't all that familiar with it, since it was more of an acoustic slower version then the one on AM, but damn! what a treat. Anyone else request it too? let me know if anybody recoreded the show? I love to get a copy
pnêyu
Isn't this the third night in a row that's happened? Do you think they're purposely listing more songs than they can play, and then picking/choosing from those? Or do they need someone who's good at math to step in and take charge? (Uyen?)At your service: Do they need someone to figure out the tip?
Wilco Worshipper
Do you think they're purposely listing more songs than they can play, and then picking/choosing from those? According to the set list I have, they didn't have extra they just switched it. Casino Queen is listed at the closer yet Outtasite (Outta Mind) wasn't listed at all. beniking
My internet has been down since last night otherwise I would have posted upon returning at 2am last night. All I can say is Wow! I feel so privileged to see this band doing what they are doing at this point in their career. Highlights were definitely Hotel Arizona, Pick up the Change, IAIL (my request), and the Being There finale. From where I was sitting in the mid to back part of the Orch. we only sat for Mountain Bed and when California Stars came on the whole crowd just got up and everyone was standing and rocking out the rest of the show. Though it did look like it took a while for the first couple of rows to fall in line and stand up as well. Also funny to hear the strong crowd reaction to SBS tracks (I actually met a few folks before the show who had only just recently been turned on to Wilco and only really knew SBS) but when tracks like Pick Up the Change and Hotel Arizona came on I felt like I was one of the few who even knew what they were playing. Also nice to see the Macrame? Owl on tour with the boys. I feel like it's a member of the band at this point. On a final note, I got to ask Glenn after the show what we might hear on SNL and he said that it's going to definitely be something from SBS, but because of time restraints we probably won't hear Impossible Germany (too bad) or LMLYFM (because they never play it) I told him I hoped we might get to hear YAMF and he said 'yeah, I hope so too'
LouisvilleGreg
Looks like the best post-residency set yet. I'm sure they'll continue to expand the sets as the tour goes on. Was I'm always In Love as rocking as at the Riv? It's nice to see Pick Up the change as well.
ginnvt
Just getting back to Vermont from last night's show at The Shubert. I haven't seen the band since they closed the VooDoo Festival in NOLA last October - so it was terrific hear them deviate from the standard SBS set list that had set it. I thought the show was terrific and the crowd was great. You don't often get a crowd that stands for almost the entire show in a theatre setting. The sound was perfect and the played exceptionally well. They seemed a bit tired (Jeff's voice started to give late in the show), but with all the festivities at The Riv recently - it makes sense. Highlights for me were Mtn. Bed, Pick up the Change, Hotel Arizona, Radio Cure, and Being There closers... I am off to DC tomorrow morning for business (no really - it is a business trip) and look forward to both nights at the 9:30 which is one of the best places to see this band... Wilco Worshipper
but when tracks like Pick Up the Change and Hotel Arizona came on I felt like I was one of the few who even knew what they were playing. Agreed. Also nice to see the Macrame? Owl on tour with the boys. I feel like it's a member of the band at this point. Don't know if you could tell, but the owl was wearing two "Obama" buttons! postproman
What a great show to have as my first Wilco show ever! I've been a fan since A.M. but never had the chance (schedule or money) to see them before. I was supposed to work last night, but got a replacement at the last minute and drove from Boston. I got in at 6, went straight to the box office and got Orch. row I...awesome!! I saw there were people recording, anyone here one of those recorders? I would love to get a copy. I can offer my services as an audio engineer to cut-up the tracks and do some light mastering. let me know! chris@palmettostudio.net
So Long
Agreed. totally felt the same way, people behind me were asking each other "what is this?" during Hotel Arizona, and one of them said "I think it's an Uncle Tupelo song." WHAT?! Also, did anybody else notice that Pat's section was low in the mix? However, John's bass was loud and clear (for once!)
WhiteLight
I sat in row C next to a very nice guy who was taping the show. I got caught up in the moment ( it was my first Wilco concert) and forgot to give him my email address. I would love to have a copy of this show, if anyone can help with that I would really appreciate it !! Nice guy, if you are out there, let me know !! Thanks from jandksmom@aol.com (the blond lady with the glasses ) !!
notary
Such an amazing show last night. Surprises left and right, not the least of which was having my requested song (Hotel Arizona) played (I could not have been the only one, but would like to take full credit). Never thought I'd see a full-band show where Being There was so well represented. Looks like the post-residency shows are going to be winners.
okp greg
For everyone looking for a recording, dimeadozen is apparently not working at the moment, but once it's back up chances are a recording will be there in a day or two.

raneonme
Great, great set last night. Some of my photos are up on Metromix.com... Metromix Connecticut :: Wilco And since a bunch weren't included (and others are a bit over-processed), I posted a few more here: Wilco :: New Haven :: 2/24/08 And finally, nice review of the show here from Eric Danton at the Hartford Courant...Review: Wilco in New Haven

Nice to see a reviewer actually know what he's talking about (or at least do the proper research). I just feel so lucky and almost priviledged to be able to see this band do what they're doing right now. Been a fan forever, but only started getting rabid with the shows since 04. I couldn't of dreamed of a better 2 shows than I got to see this weekend (the crowd issues in PA notwithstanding). Love the longer sets w/ just the one encore, love even more getting the much needed Spiders/Late Greats break, and in 2 nights I saw my first full band versions of Mountainbed, Pot Kettle Black, Red-Eyed & Blue, Hoodoo Voodoo, Pick Up The Change, and Hotel Arizona!!!! Thanks again Wilco. I was losing interest in the shows a bit after some repetitive ones in 05, but you've brought me back with a vengeance!!! Just hoping my wallet can handle all the new shows in new places I hope to hit this summer.
OudErnest
Actually, I was disappointed in the Hartford Courant review. I think Eric Danton was the only one in the audience with sound issues. In fact, many people, including Jeff Tweedy, commented on how nice the sound was. Even giving Mr. Danton the benefit of the doubt about the sound in the opening moments of the show, which is a stretch, does it really deserve to be the lead in to the story? It made it seem like there were major issues with the show. Ditto for his comments on the "empty" Oakdale show, which he also mentions in the first paragraph. If you can find it online, check out his misinformed and confused review of Wilco's Northampton show from a few years ago (I think it was at the Calvin Theatre, not to be confused with the two Pines Theatre shows from just north of Northampton ). I'm sorry but the guy doesn't get it. The New Haven Advocate and New London Day reviews (both online) are far superior.
