Sweet Papa Crimbo
The dreaded second record has derailed many a promising band: years preparing, rehearsing, performing and grooming material for the first album followed by a poorly prepared second album rushed by the record company. Here's recognizing the bands/artists with REAL staying power...at least for two records. In no particular order (and as many as I want to list...20 is a guideline. A suggestion. Not a rule.) The Beatles --- With the Beatles (UK version brutha!)Big Star --- Radio CityBruce Springsteen --- The Wild, The Innocent and the E Street ShuffleNirvana --- Nevermind (Bleach being the first)The Clash --- Give 'em enough ropeMetallica --- Ride the LighteningCreedence Clearwater Revival --- Bayou CountryBlack Sabbath --- ParanoidUncle Tupelo --- Still Feel GoneWilco --- Being ThereAlejandro Escovedo --- 13 yearsPearl Jam --- Vs.Jimi Hendrix Experience --- Axis: Bold as LoveElvis Costello --- This year's ModelBand of Horses --- Cease to BeginOasis --- What' the Story Morning GloryBob Dylan --- The Freewheelin' Bob DylanThe Band --- The BandLed Zeppelin --- Led Zeppelin IIAmy Winehouse --- Back to BlackRadiohead --- the BendsBadfinger --- No Dice (if you count Magic Christian as the first release of Straight Up if you consider No Dice the first)Whiskeytown --- Stranger's AlmanacPublic Enemy --- It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back Jay Z --- In My Lifetime, Vol. 1Arcade Fire --- Neon BibleNeil Young --- Everbody knows this is nowhere (I had doubts about this one...but everything I see credits this as a Neil solo album (i.e., Neil Young with Crazy Horse as opposed to Neil Young and Crazy Horse)Queens of the Stone Age --- Rated R

Jesusetc84
Beck's Second Album was One Foot in The Grave I believe and Nirvana's second was Insecticide??? Incesticide was a disc of rarities; though all of the songs predated Nevermind, the album came out the year after Nevermind hit.
Modified Bear
Beck's Second Album was One Foot in The Grave I believe and Nirvana's second was Insecticide??? I took some liberties with the Beck one, since One Foot in the Grave and Stereopathetic Soulmanure are often considered "unofficial releases" But as far as Nirvana goes, a) Inscesticide isn't an album it's a rarities compilation and it came out after Nevermind anyway
Jesusetc84
You're forgetting about Bleach. Bleach - Nevermind - Insecticide and Incesticide isn't really an album. It's two sides of a single, two b-sides from an EP, two bbc sessions, and their first studio demo.

With Beck I agree it is hazy. He has Western Harvest, Golden Feelings, One Foot, Stereopathetic and Mellow Gold all which came out before Odelay...But I get what you are saying! Speaking of Insectiside...I like the Sliver alot!
Sweet Papa Crimbo
None of these albums are 20 seconds. All are at least 30 minutes. Would have been A LOT wittier if you hadn't actually posted a serious list here.
PopTodd
Would have been A LOT wittier if you hadn't actually posted a serious list here. I just held back for as long as I could, until I couldn't anymore and it came exploding out of me.It's actually a lot more satisfying that way, you know...

Yes, Beck had like 90 indie albums he released in a 2 year period. I love "Sliver", it's such an insanely catchy song.

Modified Bear
the pixies second album was surferrosa! Nah we can't count EPs, that would make this whole thing impossible. And yeah, Come On Pilgrim is an EP. Surfer Rosa was Pixies' first full length LP, then Doolittle.
