Three dollars and 63 cents
The Jeff Parker Trio is also on the bill tomorrow night (along with another band). From what I know of Jeff Parker's work through the Scott Amendola Band, I think they'll be a great opener. I'm off to Syracuse to catch the train!

From what I know of Jeff Parker's work through the Scott Amendola Band, I think they'll be a great opener.Parker is an MVP of Chicago improv/post-rock scene playing in Tortoise, Isotope 217 and a variety of jazz settings for years. His set is not to be missed. Actually I think he is opening with another member of Tortoise. what time you heading out lou?around 6. Call me. LouieB
jff
I'd definitely expect to see Parker sit in with the Singers. I wish I could be there.
Col. Hapablap
I plan on going to see the show at Martyr's tonight. I'll be using public transportation, but me being from the suburbs, I not sure exactly how to get there. I have the correct address, and i have a good idea of how to get there, but i was wondering if anyone here knows if there is an El stop and a CTA stop right outside the venue. I haven't been able to determine that by looking at the map. Does anyone know where the nearest stop is?

So... take the brown line (Kimball) and get off at the Addison stop. Make a left (east) out of the station and Lincoln Ave is pretty much right there -- it's runs on a diagonal to the grid. Make a left and go up Lincoln a couple blocks. You'll see a Trader Joes and CB2, that's how you know you're going in the right direction. Martyr's is just about a block past that. If you look at Google maps, it now includes CTA stops.
Preferred B
I'd definitely expect to see Parker sit in with the Singers. I wish I could be there.I believe he has a Tuesday night gig at rodan. Last night's show in Madison was fantastic.
Col. Hapablap
Perfect! Thanks for the help, Kimcatch! That's pretty much what i needed, visuals included. Thanks as well for the info on Google maps. I didn't know about that. That'll come on handy in the future. Hopefully, I'll be able to thank you in person at the show! The only thing I'm unsure about is if you make a left or right out of the Addison station -- it was recently renovated and I haven't been there since. To the best of my knowledge it's still on the north side of the street though, which would make it a left. As long as you're heading east out of the station, you'll be fine. Lincoln is almost right next to the Addison station -- there's a train bridge that makes a little viaduct, and Lincoln's right on the other side of it.

jff
he's opening for Nels, and his gig at Rodan starts @ 11. In that case, assuming Parker would have to leave early, that presents an even cooler possibility...Nels sitting in with Parker's band.

LouieB
A perfect night. Nels and his band were on fire and Jeff and his band performed a thoughtful and energetic set of improv. A good time was had by all I think. LouieB
mountain bed
I was lucky enough to catch both sets in Indy tonight. My first time seeing the NCS and it was a wonderful time. Words escape me right now.

mountain bed
Crazy good maybe?? LouieBOK, I know this isn't After The Show but wtf. Scott kicked my ass all night long on the drums - he's really really good. I recognized some of the pieces, but much of the set was new to me. They did an Ornette tune. I thought about suggesting they do a Braxton tune since yesterday was his birthday. I also got to meet $3.63 - that was nice. Very sweet person. She also told me you said hi. This show was right up my alley. Mind = blown.
