jalfred
Is there a detailed seating chart for the Opera House? How do you know where your seats are? I found one in this PDF (page 8) http://www.desymphony.org/new/downloads/DSOBrochure.pdf
vulture19
There are no "nose bleeds" in this venue, just different vantage points. Thanks for the reassurance! I dinna know it only held 1100. But still, "Family Circle" (are Billy and the the other ones and the I don't know ghost gonna be there?) at 10:10 AM is a bit, well, much...... (On a very, very strange note, this is the third time I've bought Wilco tix, each time I've gotten the same row number, and I got the same seat numbers this time. Three different venues. Odd.) Three dollars and 63 cents
I tried and didn't get one, but I also didn't have my heart set on going. I hope those of you who try to get tickets in the general sale have good luck. The presales have been hit and miss for me. I tried for the Philly show and got shut out, but I ended up getting a 12th row seat in the general sale. I got an excellent seat for Tanglewood the other day and have had luck for a few other shows. I know it's frustrating, but think of it like this, too--a lot of bands make fans join stupid overpriced fan clubs to participate in presales. At least we're getting the chance to participate in them for free.
ChooChooCharlie
Hate to be the pragmatist, but this is what happens when everyone else in the country realizes the really good band you love is..........really good. We can always hope the next album sucks and Wilco alienates its new fan base....................call me a dreamer.
zebra
2 at 10:15!!??!?!?!i was in at 10:00:28 and got zippo!! what gives?!?!?!? ARGHasl;fkjavawnvo;ainOne of my theories for something like this is that someone grabs two tickets, maybe sets up an account, goes through all the shipping and payment screens and then choose not to get the tickets and dump them back into the pool. Maybe with all the charges, it gets too expensive.
gogo
That happens, or sometimes a buyer goes through all the steps, and then their credit card is declined. Some of this is discussed in the pinned thread on pre-sales, up above.
PearlJamNoCode
This DE show should be a good time...
blue_94_trooper
This DE show should be a good time... Probably the best seated venue in the Philly area.

blue_94_trooper
Well I'm constantly getting a busy signal... It's a small operation. Probably only 5 people answering the phone. If you wanted tickets guaranteed, you needed to go there. My buddy got there at 3:45 and was 7th in line. By 9:30 there were 75 people there, probably all of whom will get tix. For the White Stripes it took me an hour to get an answer and it was sold out by then. Luckily the same friend got in line for that one too. I got tix in the presale, I'm just seeing if I can do better (by now, probably not).

bböp
I've got to say, by way of observation...What kind of a place, in the year 2008, doesn't have some sort of system for selling tickets online?

dagwave
oh well then let me be the first- need two for Delaware!
bböp
The kind of place that doesn't really need it. The Grand has had, in my memory, two shows with this kind of demand. They were able to distribute all available tickets (probably under 1,000 after the presale) in under an hour. How would an online mechanism improve this for them to justify the cost? They could have used TicketMaster but then people would have slammed them for that too. Obviously you know the place pretty well, and I'm not disagreeing with you. But if they intend to put on more of these "high demand" shows, which it sounded like based on some of the stuff I read in the local paper, then they ought to have more than just a couple of people sitting in a box office manning the phones. Just seems a little quaint, that's all. I consider myself fairly knowledgable about concert venues around the country and I can't think of more than a couple that have no online purchasing option whatsoever. Even symphony sorts of places that wouldn't ordinarily have "high demand" type of events...
