bjorn_skurj
The only time I've ever cried was during, strangely enough, The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. To explain: the scene on top of Minas Tirith, when King Elessar (:woot) and his Lady Arwen walk down that path towards the four Hobbits, and the Hobbits start to bow to their new King (obviously). But then, bam! King Elessar says "No, we bow to you" lor something akin to it, and the whole giant top of Minas Tirith all bows and etc. to the Hobbits. A scene so epic in its epic-ness that I shed tears. I'm not kidding at all.I understand completely. That was a killer moment.
GtrPlyr
I remember a few years back up at a cottage. I was outside with a friend for a bit. We went back into the cottage to start dinner and found our girlfriends--sisters by the way--bawling hysterically. I was like, "my god, what happened, what's wrong?" Well after about 20 seconds the sobbing subsided enough for one of them to point at the screen. Turns out they were watching "The Notebook." I seriously thought something really bad had happened. I'd seen my girlfriend cry at movies before, but not like that. Her sister was even worse. As for myself, I've cried at quite a few films over the years. I'm not sure of the last one, but I do recall some tears during the ending of "Once."
Guest Cousin Tupelo
I cry more to sentimental sports movies than I do over real life issues. Rudy, The Rookie and Field of Dreams get me every time. I second the scene where the old-timers recall Doc Graham's generosity.Kevin Costner in a recent ESPN interview said he loves sports movies because athletes are the ones in society truly afforded redemption. Actors get idolized but their failings are expected and when they succeed, people discount it because they're basically being someone else. But with athletes, a guy can be a drunk one day and the next day throw a no hitter and people will lionize his redemption. Athletes, warts and all, are our modern-day warriors. Guest Cousin Tupelo
Did anyone mention "It's a Wonderful Life"? "Big Fish" is another one for me."Nobody's Fool," end of "Verdict" with Paul Newman You couldn't safely ask my wife this question. She bawls at Hallmark commercials. alison the wilca
Isn't that based upon the book "A Prayer for Owen Meaney"? I never saw the movie, but the book is one of the best novels of the 20th century, IMHO.yes, it is. i never read the book but from what i hear "the book is way better." i usually count movie adaptations of books as their own separate entity to be judged on their own, but if you aren't that type, you may not be happy with the film. in any case, i think the movie is really incredible and truly touching and well done. Wilco Worshipper
My oldest daughter saw that 'Remember the Titans' was on last night and she said "Momma, you HAVE TO watch this! It's SO good!" Apparently, they watched it in the last week or so of school this year. So I watched part of it with the girls (9 & 12) and asked them if they understood what was going on and the message here. They seemed to grasp it. I was quite proud. I watched the last hour or so by myself as it was on quite late. I was definitely choked up. I believe if I watched the whole thing...tears would've followed.

quarter23cd
Here's an off the wall sports-related one for ya: When I was a kid, that scene in The Bad News Bears In Breaking Training when Tanner is running around the outfield to escape the umpires who are chasing him and trying to call off the game and the whole damn Astrodome is chanting "Let them play!" gave me goosebumps every time. I watched the hell out of that movie on my parents' old Betamax. I haven't seen it since I was like 8 and refuse to watch it now, because in my memory, at least, that movie is right up there with The Godfather.
