Tweed Jacket
Hmmm... I'm not sure what I think of the new My Morning Jacket song "Sec Walkin". Are they trying to one-up Wilco's "Walken". For some reason I'm slightly offended by it all. I don't know, maybe I'm just an oversensitive Wilco fan.

myboyblue
I'm glad someone finally stepped up and said something. MMJ is blatantly ripping Wilco off. If they use this song in a goddamn Volvo commercial, I will flip my lid.

MrRain422
Wilco invented the verb "to walk".

BigWheeledWagon
Count me in the "not at all alike" camp (I'm not "Highly Suspicious" of MMJ -- sorry). Speaking of MMJ, I'm a little underwhelmed by "Evil Urges," though there are still 3-4 songs as good as anything they've done.
LouieB
Wilco invented the verb "to walk".In that case they need to copywrite it.....and get some money each time we do it.. LouieB
Boomookazoo
This is all very interesting, but I think we are losing sight of something crucial... Wilco, specifically the song "Walken," has been blatantly plagiarized by... Lil'Wayne. Evidence? Lil'Wayne song = "Walk In" (a sly palgiaristic move that)But, even more damning, the following lyrics (which are nearly identical to the meaning of "walken," imo): Handlin streets in the mandarin VI hear you haters slanderin me I just hand him the PAny drama I pace it like Indiana, I take your grandma pacemakerand jus handle the pieceNot two fingers I simultaneously bout two bangersYou do not want anger USDA prime beef, ya dead meatI'm so ahead of these trendy rappers speed upI'm already hot when another one startin to heat upGot Mannie hot wit me 'cause I always beat his beat upYall cats wit y'all feet up startin to look like feet up, I'mG'd upOn the V'd up, in the truck I gotta put my seat upIn the trunk I got my bass and I ain't speakin bout no speakersWhats leakin up out of yo speaker is the speech of Weezy F. On request, I can provide a line by line summary of the semantic symmetryDon't even get me started on how Lil'Wayne copped Lil' Tweed's style...
lamradio
Count me in the "not at all alike" camp (I'm not "Highly Suspicious" of MMJ -- sorry). Speaking of MMJ, I'm a little underwhelmed by "Evil Urges," though there are still 3-4 songs as good as anything they've done. I feel the same way.. There are a couple songs on that album that are the best songs they have written, but there are also a few clunkers that seem like they were written half-assed. And that picture right above this post is freakin ridiculous.
bold992003
the new song live are awesome......I love Evil Urges but live these songs kill.

keeprighton2
The new MMJ songs sound much better live. Have a listen to their show in Austin at SXSW which is up on etree in quality (NPR recording). Sec Walkin sounds really lovely live as does most of the stuff there, about 8 songs from the new album. Personally I prefer Sec Walkin to Walken, sorry. Touch Me I'm Going To Scream pt 2 esp sounds ace, nice bit of electronica thrown in.
LouisvilleGreg
I wonder if Wilco has ever had a 30 page thread on the MMJ board?
radiowilco
The two songs are nothing alike... Having just seen MMJ a couple of nights ago in Montreal -- they are a must see band. The songs from "Evil Urges" translate very well live - most are way better than the record.
ChooChooCharlie
Sec Walkin and Thank You are the (pretty) filler on the otherwise outstanding Evil Urges. Can't wait for October in Chicago.
