I do, people are paying for Charbucks' rent instead of their product. And the marketers are duping them.

OR MAYBE THEY LIKE THE COFFEE AND THE FACT THAT IT IS CONVENIENT?

Live and let live, man.

What is this the cutting section at Fox news?

I would bet, how's that? Sorry I didn't look up what they bought today on the waste floor. This what I heard they did last year from a local buyer.

Your posts smack of a conspiracy to cheat the consumer by selling an inferior product. I simply don't believe that's the case w/ Starbucks.

Note, I'm not a big fan of their product. I average about $35 bucks a week on coffee at a local joint and only patronize the national chains when convenient.

Additionally, the first post of yours I responded too implied that a longer dwell roast was a means to conceal an inferior bean.

Later you pointed out...

Unless of course, you are going for an Italian, French, or Espresso roast

...which of course are quite popular styles that are widely favored, and require a greater roast time.

I was simply pointing out that darker roasts are not necessarily a means to conceal a poor product.

Quoted for being direct and sensible.

Yes, they are selling a product that allows that to create a wider sales margin. It is about profit, not about cheating.

Yes, they are convenient. I will opt for Charbucks vs. Phillips 66.

Yes, you are entitled to your choice.

Yes, I am providing information about other choices.

Yes, Charbucks has created a loyal following that will fight other bean lovers to the death. (a joke)

Yes, we can. Thanx Barry for your positive inspiration.

No, I am not glad Charbucks is falling on hard times. They promote the fancy gourmet stuff that may lead the consumer to seek other fancy gourmet stuff, that to me tastes better and you may agree too in the blind taste test.

I had a coffee flavored beer this one time that was allsome. No lie.

I've had quite a few with mixed results. My favorite was a Red Hook Java stout with Starbucks. No lie. Note: At the time, I didn't realize that I was being duped.

I has Rogue's Mocha Porter and I liked it quite a bit, but my friends did not. Then again, they generally don't like the more bitter beers (Or really anything that isn't Coors Light, the charlatans).

that's very good stuff bobbob. I am going to say, unless Fatheadfred disagrees, you have good taste in beer.

Well, he'd better not disagree, or I've been duped into wasting a lot of money this summer.

That's an awful lot of backtracking there.

None whatsoever Sean Hannity. I feel like I am being interviewed on Fox. Stated the process of Charbucks model, another biz model, roasting technique, agreed w/ convenience.

Chipotle beer by Rogue? a sip or two is all I can tolerate.

It was mostly how you came in guns a blazing and once you realized that people here don't mind Starbucks, you're tone change significantly. Are people still being duped?

It mentions Starbucks desserts. No one eats them. They are there for leveraging $4 drinks. Interesting. I've never bought one. Does anyone eat those sugar bricks?
I've had the brownie drowning in caramel thing...when it comes to mounds of fudgey goodness soaked in caramel sauce, I'm there. All bets are off when it comes to sweets. I'd probably buy a brownie from Hitler because I'm such a fiend for sweets. :dontgetit

No guns, just facts. Yeah, they think Charbucks is what the fancy gourmet stuff should taste like. They are all a bunch of Bonnies. I'll just hang w/ Jimmie and drink his stuff while Julie and Vince clean up the brain.

My tone. We reached middle ground. I still believe there is better beans out there. Don't be afraid to venture out from the green and white.

But if people like Starbucks coffee, who cares if they are willing to settle for the middle ground between taste and convenience. For 99.9% of the population, coffee isn't anything more than something people need a fix of before work.

In the interest of full disclosure, I rarely go to starbucks, and if i do, it's mostly just to sit somewhere with a nice atmosphere to get some work done. On the rare occasion that I do drink coffee, I find somewhere where they will give me some cuban coffee.

Hey, I don't care either. It saddens me that people get duped into thinking that is 'good' coffee. It is a fact that they are leftover beans that are roasted beyond what coffee should be roasted to gain the flavor of the bean. They are tasting char (bucks).

Is there harm in understanding different types of coffee (or any food product)? Harm in understaning how a business has become profitable?

This is really going in circles.

There is no hamr in understanding different types of coffee or how a business becomes profitable. There is also no harm in ignoring it and drinking coffee. You were the one with the crusade to get people to stop drinking it, I'm just pointing out that it doesn't matter if people drink it. If they like it, they aren't being duped into anything.

I hate anytime someone tries to tell people that they don't really like or believe what they like or believe. Nothing could be more condescending.

I don't think you really feel that way.
