fatheadfred
The crowd was verrrry respectful but, I dunno... they're a rock-n-roll band from Chicago, not the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. IMO the best rock experiences come when the band and the crowd feed off one another and it ends up like a sweaty orgy of music and love between a the band and a few thousand very energetic fans. Mick: "It's OK Homer, it's only rock-n-roll fantasy camp."Homer: Ohhh, but I like it! Maybe with a band that draws a variety of peeps this will happen. Some wanna rock, some wanna be sober, some wanna get plowed, swg orchestral, swg anal about their personal space........blah blah blah Yeah, I vote for the sweaty orgy, too. locke456
thanks for all these great pics. i really REALLY enjoyed this show (my first wilco show) and i hope tweedy was serious about coming back to spokane, because i will totally be there!
it's-just-that-simple
Oh Man...I was so hoping that they would play Spiders. I fear if they didn't even play their entire set, they are not coming back. I still think it is more their fault with the venue choice than it was Spokane's fault not getting into it as much as Tweedy would have liked. I've seen several Wilco shows in nice, sit down theatres, and this was the only one where the entire audience wasn't up and dancing and singing along within the first 4 songs. I still think it is more their fault with the venue choice than it was Spokane's fault not getting into it as much as Tweedy would have liked. I don't know about it being the Band's fault for playing there. Wilco has played many shows at venues with similar alcohol policies (Performing Arts Center in Madison, WI and the Auditorium in Chicago both come to mind) and the crowds were really into it. I think the big difference was that there were a lot of people being exposed to the band for the first time in Spokane and those people were less into. It's natural enough. I wouldn't read too much into whether or not they'll ever play Spokane again though... not from one show anyway.

Preferred B
woman what about bend? Chronological order! If all goes well, they will be up tomorrow. There are a lot of them! As soon as the Fleet Foxes came out with presents, I lost all photographic modesty.

williemood
You people are really getting this all wrong. It wasn't that the Spokane crowd didn't know how to rock. Rather, the sound was so amazing in the Opera House that everyone was in awe of it all. If you were there you would have seen the crowd grooving to the Tweedy vibe. There was no time, no inappropriate moments to make a spectacle of oneself. In all it was sublime. If you didn't notice you were probably too drunk.

It should also be noted that The Fleet Foxes had a lot of family members sitting in the front rows....including grandparents. They remained sitting during the entire show, so it may have looked from further back as if people weren't enjoying the show.
