barbkm
Okay -- in my defense, this came to me when I was stuck in traffic for 5 hours driving from NJ to MA last summer to see Wilco by myself. After buying the cartoon-Wilco t-shirt the night before, I just got to thinking on this long, lonely ride of what the Wilco Scooby-Doo style cartoon would be like. So, I just started with who would be who, according to cartoon stereo types based on looks. So here's what I got: Nels-- since he's the oldest, he'd be the smart, rational one in charge -- sort of the Fred, if you will. Often rolling his eyes at the antics of Glen and pat (see below). John -- he appears to be just a really nice, normal, intelligent guy. He'd be second in command, sort of the guy version of Velma. He and Nels would be the ones who actually solve the mystery. Mikeal -- He wears glasses, so obviously he's the nerdy, professor. He's created all these contraptions that come out of his keyboards -- e.g., he presses a key and transforms the Wilco-mobile into a helicopter, race car, hovercraft -- whatever the situation warrants. Glen -- drummer = wild and crazy guy who's always getting into trouble. Scared of dark, creepy houses. Pat -- he looks like the youngest, so he's the sweet, naive guy. Scared of dark, creepy houses. Always gets teamed with Glen to investigate the dark, creepy house. Note: Glen and Pat will-- at one point -- disguise themselves as French maids to fool the bad guys. Believe it or not, it works. Jeff -- since he's the front man, the only purpose he serves is to get kidnapped and spent most of the episode tied up and gagged. At one point, we see him hopping across the room, all bound and gagged, to try to escape. The plot goes along these lines: Wilco is playing a benefit show to raise money for the local orphanage. The bad guy, Mr. Snively, wants to buy the orphanage to turn it into a strip mall. His dastardly plan to thwart the band's efforts? -- kidnap JT. So, Mr. Snively's Hench man, Bruno and Max, disguise themselves as teenage girls who want Jeff's autograph. Unknown to JT, the pen is poison gas. When he opens the pen, purple smokes flies out and JT is knocked unconscious (with the appropriate amount of twirling eyes and birdies.) The rest of the band, under Nels' direction, use Mikael's invisibility cloak to sneak of the concert hall, and from under put-upon manager Tony M's, watchful eye, to rescue JT. Nels sends Glen and Pat to the creepy house to search for Jeff, while he and John find the clues that lead to Mr. Snively's hideout. They all converge on the hideout, in a cave in the middle of Chicago (it's a cartoon, so there can be a cave in Chicago. It's called suspension of disbelief.) They rescue Jeff, run away from the bad guys to the tune of "Just a Kid," hilarity ensues -- and they get back in time to plays to show and save the orphanage. Oh yeah, and Glen and Pat dress up as French maids to fool the bad guys. Anyone have a suggestion for an episode? I'm not a stalker or nuts, I just live alone and need to amuse myself. Griddles
This is great. I can direct the whole thing, with lots of help. Should we get the band or look a-likes from VC? Also someone to pay for the whole venture would be great.
