stanis
Just got back from the show. What a rocking good time was had by all! Hopefully some kind soul taped it. Who says your votes don't count? Jeff made a point to mention before he played the song w/8 votes (unfortunately, can't remember at this time), the song w/9 votes (ELT) & the song w/no votes (Heavy Metal Drummer). Hoodoo Voodoo, Monday & Box Full Of Letters as well as other cuts from AM & Being There were played as well. Got backstage after the show (thanx Pat & Danielle) & made sure to tell everyone who would listen what a great show it was! Surely there was other VC'ers there?!? bböp
The above setlist is accurate, though it didn't make mention of special guests Scott McCaughey (acoustic guitar), Peter Buck (electric guitar) and Bill Rieflin (tambourine) on California Stars. McCaughey also stayed on stage to play keyboards on Misunderstood, joining Mike at his "station."

remphish1
Um, yeah. I'd say that's worth mentioning. VERY cool. Buck's good on the acoustic, but c'mon...let Buck and Nels spar on the electrics....THAT would be something to see! Has Stipe ever showed up in Athens to sing with Jeff? Maybe he was busy shopping for mascara or something. Not that I know of but from what I understand he lives in NYC most of the year so he usually isn't in Athens. Cool about Buck though! jsf3000
That setlist is right on. Wilco used to open for REM back in the day. Might be the closest thing to Jeff and Michael singing together. Glenn, Mikael, Pat, & John showed up at the Manhattans after the show with Peter, Scott, Bill and a bunch of others. Great way to end the night for me.
Wendy
Damn!!! The Venus 3! What a treat. Thanks for the extra info bebop. Too bad they couldn't have worked up a giganto band version of The Town That Lost Its Groove Supply and bring in the horns from A Hawk And A Hacksaw

Skulls Ruggins
What a great show. Jeff Tweedy was hilarious as usual. I recognized Petter Buck, but not the others. My only complaint is about the venue. That room sounded good, but the setup was like a ball room. No incline in the floor, so if you were short, you were screwed. But it wasn't too packed. Also, wtf is up with those beer corrals?!? The highlights of my show were when the whole band stood on top of their amps to start the Late Greats (I think, may've been a different tune.) And the Nels Cline / Pat Sansome guitar dual during Hoodoo Voodoo.
jakobnicholas
Too bad they couldn't have worked up a giganto band version of The Town That Lost Its Groove Supply and bring in the horns from A Hawk And A Hacksaw No, that would be a non-Wilco song....something the apparently don't play anymore. California Stars seems to be the one song that Jeff lets his friends play in on....a great song, but why waste Buck on that? You're in Athens, home of arguably the best band of the past 20 years, and you let the musical mastermind of that band play acoustic for California Stars? C'mon. With Peter Buck on stage, why not blow the roof off the joint and play one of R.E.M.'s old classics? Sorry. That wouldn't be a Wilco tune would it? My bad. (I love the Wilco. But their missing some golden opportunities to thrill thier audiences.)
fatheadfred
Also, wtf is up with those beer corrals?!?what is a beer corral? do you have to finish your beer before leaving the corral? do they put you in a head chute and shoot beer up your arse?

HAHA...yes I didn't buy any beer in there because of it, but they had these areas where you had to stay whilst drinking a beer.

My two best beer experiences w/ Wilco shows have been: KC Crossroads- 8 kinds of good beer to the left, 8 kinds of good beer to the right, or go inside and choose from 30 taps.Tulsa Cains- 6 pack of cans for a decent price. Get a 6er, go watch the show. Awesome.

DawgSong
Old tour buds twisted my arm Sunday night, so off I wentto Athens yesterday. Glad they "forced me." Twas my 2nd time seeing them in this venue.I knew what to expect this time. It's definitely set-up for a "college crowd".I'm a BEER drinker but so far in my last two Wico shows thereI have one BEER each night. It's just not worth dealing with the cattle corals. I can understand why they do it. One can only imagine the spilled beers leadingto a ton of people slipping and falling on the concrete floor. There was also at least one taper last night. That's good. Did anyone venture down to the 40 Watt for DINO, JR. after the show?We thought about it but then figured it was most likely sold-out.

I wanted to go to and have a hook up at the 40 watt. But, alas, the wife's plans ruled and we went to hang with some of her friends instead. Plus, you would've needed some serious ear plugs to see DJ in the 40 watt. ;-)
