Guest Speed Racer
Ever since I read an article about the Loft I've always wondered how often someone will buy a weird guitar or piece of equipment only to find a duplicate in the Loft six months later...
rac1234
I am an old fart. what does this mean? Meta - Definition: self-referential; referring to itself or its characteristics, esp. as a parody; about And Speed Racer, thank you for your apology. It's hard to read tone on the board sometimes, but I assure you it was meant as a joke. Now go enjoy your coffee.
LouieB
I thought the rant was funny.... and yea, I guess there is a magazine for everything. LouieB
Smokestack Joe
instead on Tweedy playing at people's homes for charity, he should host a private charity show at the loft. that would be sweet.

I don't think there's enough room to sit. Folks could pile up on the bunk beds, I guess. Ooooh, Pajama Charity Bedtime Private Loft Show!
theashtraysays
IIRC, Jeff did a pre-release listening party for AGIB at the loft. It was also a charity thing, maybe an auction; a few people were able to come to the loft and hear AGIB with Jeff before it was released. I suspect someone on the board was at that... Hoodoo Man
Wow! Forget flat screen tv's and wet bars, this would be my dream "man cave". Thanks for sharing the article with us.
Sweet Papa Crimbo
So you're poking fun at people with whom you agree. Got it now. One doesn't get over 30,000 posts without stringing out things beyond belief.

The only thing I know of to that effect was that one of the Living Room Shows last year listened to W(TA) after Jeff's concert, at the house of the host.
Preferred B
The year before the living room shows started, a listening party for AGIB was the main auction item for Letters to Santa. This was for a much smaller group - maybe 5? - and wasn't originally planned for the Loft, though that's where it ended up. Yes, some VCers were present.

Preferred B
Please share the experience. That sounds rad as hell.I'm not being coy; I was at the Second City event that year, but wasn't part of the auction-bidding group. Some friends of mine were, and perhaps they'll come around and talk about it. There was a thread at the time, but even the archives don't go back that far anymore. Moss
There's a magazine called LoftLife? Reminds me of Homer Simpson reading "Gravy World" I used to read "Pizza today" at work when I delivered pizza's for a living in high school. "The new ovens are in!"

Unlikely St Louis
Wow...I hope they have a good insurance policy. I can't imagine the loss if there were to be a fire, earthquake or Godzilla attack.
cryptique
Godzilla attacks aren't covered on regular policies. You have to buy special Godzilla coverage, which can be expensive in large cities.
Guest Speed Racer
You have to buy special Godzilla coverage, which can be expensive in large cities. The Irving Park area is a decent way away from the downtown zone. I don't know what the restrictions are for Godzilla policies, but I know that my King Kong coverage was pretty affordable when I lived a comparable distance from the Loop. Of course, I didn't own 9,000 instruments, just my mother's faberge egg collection.
craigwinn
The Tony Margherita p.r. machine is out of control!! Will there now be a whole new influx of Wilco fans who are only into them because of their penchant for a certain trendy type of real estate? Oh what the heck. Come on down, Loft-o-philes, there's room for you too in Wilco Nation
