jff
I've decided to make a point of checking out some bands I've overlooked or ignored. One of the first names that comes to mind is Stereolab. What is considered their best album, and which of their releases would be good introductions to their music?
PopTodd
I like Mars Audiac Quintet. It's the most song-focoused of their releases; the mosts-accessible with the most hooks.

mpolak21
I really adore this record: Emperor Tomato Ketchup and the aforementioned Mars Audiac Quintet are also essentials. Here's a great vid of Cybele's Reverie from Jools Holland: --Mike

I just ordered a $2 copy of Mars Audiac Quintet. I'll have to find a good/inexpensive copy of Transient Noise Bursts somewhere, but that'll probably be my next pick. Basil II
The double discs "ABC Music" from the BBC Radio One Sessions give interesting live takes as well. -Robert

jff
Ok, so my copy of Mars Audiac arrived on Saturday, and over the long weekend I bought used copies of Emperor Tomato Ketchup and Cobra and Phases Group... Good stuff all around. So far my favorite is Cobra and Phases. It's too long, but it's high points are higher than the high points of the other cds. Of course, that's based on only one listen per cd, and is subject to change. Thanks for all the pointers.
