favorite album from each decade

Recommended Posts

here's a list i don't think has been done yet. what are your favorite albums from each decade. try keeping it to no more than 2 per decade. i'm starting with the 50's, but feel free to go back even further. i only have a handful of albums from the 40's in my collection, so it would be hard for me to really pick a favorite having only heard a select few.

50's - miles davis - kind of blue, john coltrane - blue train

60's - john coltrane - a love supreme, bob dylan - freewheelin bob dylan

I'd say, right now, it's:

50's My jazz exploration is relatively recent, so there's a lot I haven't heard, but I'd go with Kind of Blue (Miles) and Mingus Ah Um

60's Blonde on Blonde (Dylan) and Hot Rats (Zappa)

70's Quadrophenia (The Who) and Desire (Dylan)

80's Purple Rain (Prince) and Paul's Boutique (Beastie Boys)

90's Radiator (or maybe Guerilla) (SFA) and In Utero (Nirvana)

00's Phantom Power (or maybe Dark Days/Light Years) (SFA) and Songs for the Deaf (QOTSA)
