Doug C
Honestly, I am not trying to bait and I will not respond to positive responses to my forthcoming query. I am truly interested in knowing if someone actually believes that a One World Government is being planned by current world leaders. If someone is sincerely concerned about a coming One World Government, I respectfully request that you reply as such in this thread. Again, I will not respond in any way. I am simply curious. Thank you in advance.

Why bother? You have nothing to add to this discussion, and your understanding of climate science is simply pitiful. If you want to put the evidence on a scale, the side in favor of AGW would far outweight the opposition by many orders of magnitude. I could, if I cared to bother, find links from folks who still deny evolution and the age and origins of the planet and/or universe, but really, what would be the point? Don't attack me. I'm not one of the "scientists" who have lied to you for years. Next we will find out there is no shortage of oil.   You are having it both ways again. First, I don't contribute anything to the debate and then when I do, it isn't good enough for you because it doesn't fit your beliefs. It doesn't really matter anymore. It was fun while it lasted. Stay warm. Ah, this is great. It singlehandedly reverses the warming of the polar ice caps, it's suddenly cooling the ocean instead of warming it, there will be less hurricanes going forward thanks to a single disorganized scientist with a messy desk. It may not repopulate the world of all the species that we are driving into extinction, but that isn't such a bad thing, right? We can all get used to eating carp, after all.

Guest Speed Racer
First, I don't contribute anything to the debate and then when I do, it isn't good enough for you because it doesn't fit your beliefs.  No, you, personally, still don't contribute anything to the debate. You post links and say, "Comments? Anyone?" But YOU don't comment. You don't debate. You don't say, "See, these articles state that [blah blah blah] which tells me that [blah blah blah], you ignorant text skimmer. What can you possibly have that disproves these solid, cold, hard facts?" And that makes me think you just come here to bait, which kind of annoys me, because I know you have opinions and the power to articulate them with more than a "Comments? Anyone?" The first article suggests that there is no "warming," - or rather, that the data cannot be tracked down - which does not discount the theory of climate change, as many have stated earlier that the theory of climate change is characterized by more extreme weather patterns. The second article states that, while one of the claims in the U.N. report was overstated, the core conclusion of the report is unaffected by that overstatement. Do you mean to tell me you have never made an overstatement at work? The third article, again, addresses warming, which is a scientific idea that kind of went out the door in the 2000s - again, I think most people here support the idea that climate change - NOT synonymous with global warming - might in fact have merit, and that warming is likely not a trend. I know you're probably angry that scientists in a position of influence either overstated or falsified some (not all) data, which kind of sucks, but if the worst that happens is we consume a little less and are kinder to others, to the poverty-stricken, and to the planet, I can't say I really give a crap. Sparky speaks
Hey Speedy......What do you add but put downs and criticism of what I post. Well, at least I give you something to do. I am sorry I didn't know you were the high priestess of political discussion on this board. But you do make good Wilco DVD's. Thanks again for your input and support. Way to have an open mind about an issue which is clearly in doubt. I guess it is not the sun then because you said so. It was silly of me to bring some scientific studies and the views of one of the leading global warming spokesman into the conversation. Keep up the ad hominem attacks. Stay warm. Guest Speed Racer
Keep up the ad hominem attacks. Â After that first paragraph I, you know, like, commented on your links. I get it, I don't think you're used to people commenting on your links, so I'll understand if you stopped reading halfway through that first paragraph (dead serious here - I'd stop reading too, if people kept calling me names like GON's been doing). Again:Â I'm discussing what you posted - isn't that why you posted the links? You asked for comments - voila! You didn't post scientific studies, you posted news articles commenting on three separate instances, the first of which involved several data sets, the second which referred to a single incorrect statement in a single study, and the third which cited a study that found that there has been no global warming for a number of years, which I will readily admit is true, and I've said as much in almost every post in this thread. Good Old Neon
(dead serious here - I'd stop reading too, if people kept calling me names like GON's been doing).  Meh – the dude has been disrespectful from the get go, and, with the exception of posting links, links that are, by and large, opinion pieces, hasn’t contributed much beyond them, these links. He stated that he doesn’t bother reading any of the links other folks post, so, I see no reason to extend much by way of respectful discourse, as he seems more interested in playing cutesy. The same goes for Futureage – who, unless you take him at his word, you’re just a mindless, corporate sponsored lamb. Many of his opinions are about half right, but then he draws crazy inferences from them, and shares them as fact. See also the Amero.  For extracurricular credit, I’d recommend that they both read the following: Voodoo Histories: The Role of the Conspiracy Theory in Shaping Modern History http://www.amazon.co.uk/Voodoo-Histories-Conspiracy-Shaping-History/dp/0224074709

JohnO
When we realized everything is a lot more complex than we originally made it seem.More precisely it was when they couldn't prove it to be a man made phenomena and turned to religious rhetoric with a dash of Ponzi scheme called cap and trade thrown in for good measure. Every time someone says "the science is settled" alarm bells should go off in your head. Not long ago the greatest minds of the time felt the same way about eugenics. Good Old Neon
Climate change is really nothing new is it? If dinosaurs still ruled the earth, humans would yet be living in trees. Climate change has been the norm throughout the earth’s history, however, the behavior of an individual species directly contributing to and/or driving planetary-wide change is, insofar as we know, unprecedented.  With regards to dinosaurs, tree living is a sacrifice I’d be willing to make for a glimpse, hopefully not too brief a glimpse, of a living breathing t-rex or maybe even just one of those less impressive duck-bills. Guest Speed Racer
Every time someone says "the science is settled" alarm bells should go off in your head.  You're using quotation marks, but I can't seem to recall who said that - and, more importantly, who on this board agreed with the person who said that. I don't see why it's so bad to formerly agree that one theory might be plausible, and subsequently find another theory much better explains phenomena we're experiencing. Isn't that what scientific reasoning/explanation is?

A system of balance that is forever in flux. Because we are woven into the system, we change the balance. Mostly through our adaptability, lack of natural predators and success in populating. Change unprecedented by a species? Maybe. Unprecedented? lol Ultimately, like Cormac, I see the concentrated feral fire of balance far outweighing cannibalistic unbalance.
