H.Stone
Uh, I probably shouldn't be posting right now but anyway... Bahahahahaaa!! Did you have 23oz. WTF races with the Poets? Did HPoet start belting out REM tunes at the bar? I love that acoustic Spiders is showing up in the setlists. I can't wait to see the band in-- oh, wait. There are no dates on the horizon. Thankfully I have your reports for the next few days. Don't screw it up!

Don't screw it up! I'll try not to! Too much Weißbier, though, and I can't make any promises... Belting out REM tunes at the bar...is that what HPoet did at Solid Sound? The Poets were actually quite respectable last night, but the same cannot be said for me. I blame this partly on a ticket snafu in which I apparently didn't buy the right kind of ticket for the closest-to-the-stage section. Of course I didn't find that out until they were letting us in. Let's just say the entry procedures at Cirkus Krone left something to be desired. It was all good, though, since I found a really nice seat on the aisle with a great view and, significantly, really easy access to the aforementioned Weißbier throughout the show. So I just propped my feet up and downed a few. Good times. I suppose I could say a word or two about the show, which was a fun one. Nice to hear Kamera (on which Jeff broke out what looked like a Rickenbacker) and Everlasting again (which maybe got played because of the circus being in the lyrics?) and of course the Poor Places>acoustic Spiders segue. Oh, and the "natural" intro to Heavy Metal Drummer played by Glenn is always amusing. Not sure what happened there, but the sample didn't work for some reason, so Glenn just banged it out which seemed to surprise Jeff. From my admittedly not right-up-front vantage point (and with a couple of Weißbiers in me), Jeff seemed sort of giggly. He almost lost it a couple of times, like trying to start Hummingbird when he got distracted by the crowd's clapping and botched the "Riding alone, town after town, toll after toll" line and they had to take it from the top. So anyway, it was a pretty loose-feeling show. Crazy venue--a true circus. Wish I had been able to join the Poets and the Queenies down on the floor, but all in all, a good time was had by all, it seemed.

There may have been some projecting happening with that question. I'm sure she sang something, though. I just don't remember the details. ...the same cannot be said for me. Speaking of Jeff whipping out guitars, R came across a Belfast picture that he swears (*adjusts his glasses*) is Jeff playing Nels' JM. I don't know--I don't think there's a complete set list from Belfast muchless note of that kind of detail, but it does look like the JM in the photo. And how about the rainbow SG? Any appearances? Jeff has been playing a JM on Bull Black Nova, and it does look like Nels'...but it's not because Nels usually plays his on BBN. It's almost uncanny, though -- even the wear pattern looks similar. And sadly, no sign of the rainbow SG. Might not have made the trip.

At least we were all clapping in unison to Nothing'sever...
50footqueenie
Oh God! I'd forgotten about the synchronised clapping!! Just heard a feature on this show on Bavarian Radio (thank heavens for internet radio...): Interviews with Jeff and John and about 50 mins of the concert. The sound quality was awesome! Jeff wants to fight Mohammed Ali at Cirkus Krone (?) - Ali seemingly trained there once. Attention Poets and Bbop - We are also holding incriminating evidence of late night on-street (in the rain, but under umbrella) imbibance, which we promise not to release on to the internet for the price of two (very large) beers!!!! Though having looked at it today I think maybe it is I what comes off worse! Prost!
Turnips
here's a download link for that show you mentioned above - no interviews, just the 50 minutes of tunes. IrishMickyWard
this show was multi-tracked by a local engineer in a mobile recording truck for a 1 hour radio broadcast. it is nice to see that the entire show was broadcast. (((((( now where is all the video and audio that VH1 recorded in Florence, MA a few years ago....? )))))
