After what I pulled on the wife on Saturday night, I believe I'm on the wagon for a spell. Part of the blame falls on my brothers shoulders but I'm receiving all the blowback. Life just aint fair sometimes.

Nah, just got bombed with my brothers, one of whom I havent seen in 2 years. Frankly, I believe I'm allowed an episode like that every 5 or 10 years.

This was some damn good stuff. Not that I should be surprised, as it is Sam Smith's, but it went down real smooth and had just enough chocolate flavor to kick my ass, but no so much as to overwhelm the beer. Just awesome. And I am not a fan of flavored/infused beers or lambics and such.

Samuel Smith's beers are just about the best across the board. Their oatmeal stout was my first love. Well, I thought my first love was this girl I dated in college, but then I had one of their oatmeal stouts, and I realized what true love was.

Just had one of these last night and it rocked my world:
wrasslers-porterhouse.jpg

Only a 10-oz. bottle at 5.7% ABV. So, a bit stronger than your average beer, but not crazy strong like a Trappist. The flavor, though... my God, the FLAVOR! Very bitter, with lots of very strongly roasted—heavily roasted— malts. Just enough hops to make sure that it doesn't leave a burnt aftertaste, but a pleasant roast-y thing that lasts just long enough.

A great food beer, too.

Instantly, it became a new favorite.
